purpose: Monday Morning Coffee – Full of THANKS! - 11/24/13 11:54 PM
Good Monday Morn to ya! If you’re anything like me, this is going one very unfocused, scattered, non-productive week, but that’s OK because I think we’ve ALL got a LOT for which we can be thankful.
I’m guessing if you’re reading this post, you probably have a roof over your head, food in your refrigerator (which means you have electricity), and access to the internet . . . and if you’ve got all of that, you probably also have Family and friends who you care about and who care about YOU!
When I sit down to write a blog post (Almost … (1 comments)

purpose: Monday Morning Coffee – Veterans Day – What Do YOU Stand for? - 11/11/13 01:37 AM
HUG A VETERAN TODAY! As a Veteran, Veterans Day brings a rush of memories from my own days of service and myriad thoughts about all of the brave Soldiers who have EVER served in the Armed forces of the United States of America.
Of course in times of war, there are many other people who served in different (civilian) capacities that were critical to the mission of the soldiers they served. These people made weapons, ammunition, clothes, supplies, food . . . and dreamed of better ways to make things (research and Development) and deliver things (Logistics).
These people are also … (0 comments)

purpose: A veritable GOLDMINE – FREE! #in - 04/28/12 07:56 AM
Generosity abounds . . . Read to the bottom for some great FREE resources – DO IT TODAY 4/28 because one of these offers expires at the end of the day.
One very COOL thing the internet has done for us all is to give VERY generous (and smart/wise) people a platform to share some REALLY good stuff without charging.
I make every effort to write each blog post such that it makes IMPACT on the reader because I KNOW how overwhelming it all can be.
I feel this great burden of responsibility that if anyone is generous enough with … (3 comments)

purpose: A Difference between setting Goals and what it Takes to Achieve them #in - 12/08/11 11:02 PM
How many years have you set VERY clear goals at the beginning of the year only to have the same year as before . . . over and over and over?
Kinda jades your opinion of Goal Setting after a few years, doesn’t it?
Defines “Insanity” – Doing the same things every year with the same people expecting different results.
There’s a simple fix, and it’s NOT to stop setting goals.
After all, we DO need something clear to keep us driving ourselves FORWARD.
How can you move FORWARD if you don’t know where you are going and WHEN you … (5 comments)

HEY! Clean up your cloud or no allowance for you! Posted on July 15, 2011 by Barry Owen Do you hear your Mother’s voice? (CLEAN UP YOUR ROOM or ELSE!)
Sorry to elicit unpleasant memories, but I DO have a point.
How neat and tidy is your life?
Seriously! Is there any semblance of order and focus as you work your daily magic?
Have you heard of “Cloud Computing?“
If you have heard of it, you probably just cringed because of the twinge of misunderstanding about the myriad web-based “apps” that seem to be multiplying like rabbits creating a fog in your reality . . .

purpose: Who the heck is "Pareto", and why is your company named after him? #in - 11/10/10 03:34 AM
Who the heck is "Pareto", and why is your company named after him?
Posted on November 10, 2010 by Barry Owen
We named Pareto Realty by design.
I wanted our firm's name to embody in as few words as possible the essence of our purpose as a real estate firm.
I knew that what I wanted to birth is a firm which would attract the "right people" who would come together as professionals and find just the right mix of camaraderie along with the appropriate level of support and training to give them the leverage they need to perform in life . … (0 comments)

"Don't spend money you don't have!" (and other Fatherly advice)
Posted on October 28, 2010 by Barry Owen
Doesn't it drive you crazy when you get yourself into a pickle and you hear:
"I told you so!" ?
"If only you had LISTENED to me . . . "
My paternal instincts come forth often as I coach and consult with Professionals who are always doing the best they know to do with the resources they have, and sometimes wander astray of the fundamentals of sound life and business practices.
We are all responding to rapid complexity (My father calls this "raplexity") … (0 comments)

purpose: remembering WHO your are &WHY you're "Here" is 9/10 of the game #in - 07/01/10 12:56 AM
Have you ever had a bad day?
I mean a REALLY bad day - the kind that brings you close to your breaking point?
So close to your breaking point that you're ready to throw in towel and just QUIT?
Never fear . . . It happens to all of us.
the champions are the ones who can face this kind of bad day and emerge "better than before".
so . . .
How do you do THAT?
I believe it begins with taking yourself back in time to that day when you decided that it would be a good idea … (2 comments)

purpose: Holding to your OWN standards is long term strategy - "Easy Route" toples in a storm - 11/09/09 09:58 AM
Seth Godin has this uncanny knack of taking ideas out of my head and writing them in the simplest of ways.
For example: When I think in paragraphs about little things that bother me, Seth writes blog posts like THIS:
Take What you can Get
Where he says:
"Like bending a sapling a hundred years before the tree is fully grown and mature, the gigs you take early will almost certainly impact the way your career looks later on. If you want to build a law practice in the music industry, you'll need to take on musicians as clients, even if … (1 comments)

purpose: BEWARE! You're ALWAYS in DANGER of meeting OPPORTUNITY! - 06/03/09 11:34 PM
Opportunity is sometimes difficult to recognize.
If you're not VERY careful, you might just step in a big pile of it unknowingly.
Opportunity often lurks in the shadows and rarely shows up when expected.
Opportunity hides in the brush and slithers up and BITES YA!
There's not really much of anything you can do to protect yourself from Opportunity because it is EVERYWHERE!
If you are an Opportunity-phobic, you might consider becoming a hermit, because opportunity will find even the most fearful among us.
With this level of DANGER ever present, what can you DO to protect yourself.
I've even heard of … (5 comments)

purpose: Spring Break - 03/16/09 12:41 AM
Remember when you were young and in school, the excitement that surrounded the coming of Spring Break?
We're in the midst of that now with our 3 young ones.
It all really started with Ash Sunday - the beginning of Lent. This is the first year that all of our children are knowingly participating having given up CANDY for Lent.
Our only rule for giving things up for Lent are that "it's gotta be significant" . . .
Giving up CANDY for a 7 year old is darn significant.
and here we are finding ourselves in relatively deep conversations each time … (0 comments)
