"A national analyst says Marion County is among 15 "hot spots" in the United States in terms of projected nonresidential construction.
The Ocala metro area is listed in the top 15 in the "Expansion Index" of Reed Construction Data of Norcross, Georgia. Ocala is one of 11 metropolitan statistical areas to have a index of rating of greater than 10."

Ocala & Marion County Real Estate Market Update
The Ocala & Marion County real estate market although improving, has not recovered as well as most of the rest of the country.  2013 saw some improvement in the first half but then stalled in the second half.  We ended the year with almost the same inventory as we started.
However, there were some interesting changes.  This chart shows the sales vs. inventory by price point.  
Of significance is that the price point has been moving up and now three tiers are either sellers markets or balanced.

"Marion County's unemployment rate for October fell to 7.3 percent, down from 9.1 percent a year ago and the lowest since May 2008. The rate was 7.6 percent in September.
