development: New $480M Downtown projects in the works. - 11/13/07 04:38 AM
This story was first published in the IBJ real estate blog by Corey Schouten.

This though is going to be a huge opportunity for downtown Indianapolis to come back.  Not that it was really lacking in the first place, but with all the development that is poised to come into downtown it's going to boom!  This in a way is going to compete with the Venue project that is ongoing on the Northside of Indianapolis, considering it too has a large auditorium for shows.  With the two being so far away from each other though, I think it will be good for … (2 comments)

development: Up to 416 homes in the path of I-69 - 10/24/07 12:44 AM
Official just released another step in the extension of I-69 from Indianapolis to Evansville. They have chose this alternative from 11 others, which this seems to have the least eviromental impact, with the out way of economic impact.  This route is going to connect Indianapolis, Martinsville, Bloomington, Crane, Oakland City, and Evansville.
Just last week I drove the route on 37 from Indianapolis to Bloomington, I can personally say that this is a much needed up grade.  Indianapolis is the major economnic center of the Central Indiana Region, and in order for it to prosper we need the infastructure to insure the … (3 comments)

Another exciting condo development downtown is Meridian Arch.  It is a renovated Church that sits adjacent to the War Memorial and the new Downtown Library.  The developer is Hearthview Residential (www.hearthview.com).  The aminenitites of these condo's is really quite stunning, they have the uniqueness in the history of the church, but also have the features you would expect in new construction and interior amenities.
Some of the features include hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops. These have many stardard features, but also have available upgrades.  As in, audio video systems, designer cabinet hardwar, cultured marble tubs and showers, and … (2 comments)

development: 3 Mass Ave - 10/10/07 05:42 AM
I know this isn't a new development, but I thought it's a pretty substantial piece of residential property downtown. So, I thought I would do a little blog about it on here!
333 Mass. Ave. is in the heart of downtown Indianapolis.  This condo development has unimaginable urban feal.  With modern contemporary floor plans, and what looks to be very high level finishes.  Most of the condo's are going to feature impossibly high ceilings, beautiful hardwood floors, and a ton of natural light.  Each one also is going to have amazing views of downtown Indianapolis, and all of Mass Ave. I … (1 comments)

By Bill Ruthhart bill.ruthhart@indystar.com
WESTFIELD, Ind. -- Plans are in the works for another high-end lifestyle shopping center in Hamilton County, this time along U.S. 31 in the emerging suburb of Westfield.
A proposal filed with town officials late Thursday calls for 430,000 square feet of retail space on a 64-acre parcel at the northeast corner of 161st Street and U.S. 31. The $83 million project, scheduled to open in the fall of 2009, would be developed by Chicago-based Pine Tree Commercial Realty. Dubbed Lantern Commons, the development would be slightly smaller than Carmel's Clay Terrace, a 570,000-square-foot lifestyle center just two … (0 comments)

development: Town chooses city life over green acres Building boom may triple Westfield's population - 09/24/07 04:40 AM
By Bill Ruthhart bill.ruthhart@indystar.com
WESTFIELD, Ind. -- Surrounding the crates of squash, pumpkins and watermelons at Randy Bilskie's roadside produce stand are fields of golden corn and soybeans.
For 10 years, Bilskie has enjoyed the rural scenery around his old Hamilton County farmhouse as he's made a living selling farm-fresh food, antiques and even a few used cars on his land west of Westfield on Ind. 32. Soon, those farm fields will be replaced with fresh concrete, neon lights and new neighborhoods as Westfield reaches the brink of a construction boom that ultimately could triple its population, making it the latest hot … (0 comments)

development: Commuter Rail Linking Muncie & Indy - 09/09/07 01:32 PM
Momentum building for Muncie-to-Indy commuter rail
By SETH SLABAUGH seths@muncie.gannett.com 37 Comments

A commuter rail linking three major college campuses would be awsome.  Think of the development potential it could bring all of the cities on the path of this.  Since the decline of Anderson and Muncie this should bring much added hype as well as more jobs to these communities.  I personally think it will be huge for Indianapolis to be linked to three major cities and it will boost the economic vitallity of each region.

development: Carmel to get $90 Million to take over Keystone - 09/09/07 01:18 PM

With Carmel getting this influx of $90 million to take over keystone it will hopefully speed things along.  With Carmels proactive outlook, and the fast timeline that they have set out for it will have a nice alternative when contruction starts on US 31. Most people don't feel that Carme's idea for Keystone's interchanges is a good idea.  But if you look at the track record for roundabouts and how much they save time and reduce pollution its going to be good for the city and for commuters that use the thoroughfare. Also, Keystone will be lowered so it will have … (0 comments)
