The short answer is because the typical home sold by a Realtor sold for about 43 percent more than the typical “For Sale by Owner” home. That’s according to the National Association of Realtors 2011 profile of home Buyers and Sellers. It’s ironic that most homeowners chose the FSBO route to save money. But, in fact, those sellers would have walked away with more money had they simply identified and retained the services of a good, solid Realtor who would have done all the heavy lifting.
