Any seasoned salesperson knows that until the salesperson obtains control of the sale nothing will happen. Oh, there are those occasions when a prospect buys something but the best salespeople have the ability to sell their product based on exemplary service, superior knowledge, sage counsel and persistence. Gaining and keeping control certainly applies to soliciting a listing.
The real estate business is populated by an awful lot of agents who are willing to take any listing, regardless of how ridiculous the price point may be. That hurts them (not only will the house not sell but the seller will badmouth the agent) and it hurts … (3 comments)

The short answer is because the typical home sold by a Realtor sold for about 43 percent more than the typical “For Sale by Owner” home. That’s according to the National Association of Realtors 2011 profile of home Buyers and Sellers. 
It’s ironic that most homeowners chose the FSBO route to save money.
