Today, March 23rd is National Puppy Day so be sure to give your puppy or dog lots of hugs and love today. This date was selected by Colleen Paige of 'Pet Home' Magazine to remind others to take good care of your pets. It is also the day to spread the word about pet protection.
Their motto is "Rescue instead of Shopping" meaning they want you to find dogs in shelters and organizations instead of through breeders.

Here are some interesting facts about the history of the candy cane. We celebrate the holidays and buy over 1.7- 2 billion candy canes every December to celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah. The candy cane is over 300 years old and comes from Europe. The original candy canes were white and straight. Red and white candy canes were created around 1927 and also added in the peppermint flavoring. Candy canes were used as decorations for Christmas trees. This tradition was brought from Europe. Candy canes are crushed and added into other foods (28 comments)

I live in southern California so in the summer time we have some pretty warm weather a few months of the year, Aug and September, so I always feel fortunate when we have a rain or wind storm to cool and wash everything off. So a couple of nights ago, a wind storm just came up. I had just been to a class on videotaping on my telephone so I taped this poor tree being whipped around during the storm. Enjoy the video. The wind kept up for a couple of hours. (4 comments)
The bunnies have gotten used to us as I am sure they think we invaded their territory. Now, they don't even run off but just sit there. This little guy last night just stuck his nose in the bush. He never did leave!
Here is a picture from the other night.
I am sure a big fan of living with nature and the wildlife in my community. Notice all the flowers are gone off my Praire (10 comments)

Recently I was on a trip to Philadelphia and thought this site was amazing. We all are probably familiar with the restaurant 'Hard Rock Cafe' but here in downtown Philadelphia was a huge guitar and it rotated.
I just stood there for a second and even missed the light. I waited until it came around again. This made me think what a great way they brand their name 'Hard Rock Cafe'.

Last week I was on the phone and had the back door open and heard all this commotion. As I went outside, I saw two red hawks flying off and every bird in the whole area was squealing and flying like crazy birds. Then they all hid in trees and it was dead silent except for some crying. I couldn't find a wounded animal so not sure if it was in someone else's yard or just an unset critter. I have a black phoebe bird nest and did not see the (14 comments)
