Southern California is a Beautiful Place to Retire
Souther California has great weather, lots of gated communites, golf courses everywhere, nature areas to enjoy wildlife, walking and hiking trails, bike lanes on the city streets, and of course many Veteran Hospitals in all the major cities.

This morning we had an unexpected rainstorm so I got up and videotaped it.

Here are some pictures of the sky later in the day. Even when we have rain we have beautiful weather as we are about 77 degrees today in the middle of summer.

kristin hamilton sells redlands: Speechless Sunday- Bird Sitters.....or maybe Bird Stalkers - 10/16/11 11:57 AM

I had noticed that one of my bird feeders had not needed refilling all week?? This morning when I went to bring my dogs back inside, this is what I found. They were up on the retaining wall waiting for the birds! And where were the birds? They were up on the fence just watching from a far.

That is what I will be doing today; moving the birdfeeder higher up on the hill so the birds can safely get back to the feeder! Remember to feed the birds!

kristin hamilton sells redlands: Friday Fotos- Inspirational Photos of Redlands CA. - 09/30/11 07:43 PM

Friday Fotos- An Inspirational Look at Redlands CA.

I live and work in the Redlands area. I love the city as it is so beautiful, well maintained, and very historical. The city is very unique as nowadays many cities downtown areas have turned to industrial or all the buildings are empty and boarded up but not Redlands. The downtown section is lovely, full of restaurants, a variety of shopping, and many historical buildings such as the downtown post office and Smiley Library. I have included a few of my photos for you to enjoy.

The beautiful Smiley Library … (24 comments)

The Barton Schoolhouse Restoration Project
On September 29th/ 30th, 2009, this 110 year old schoolhouse was moved in two parts to its new location on Orange Street, Redlands CA located across the street from the Montessori School.

Developer Aaron Weiss donated the building to Grove High School and paid all the moving expenses. The students and parents of Grove High School and the  Redlands Conservancy have strived to collect funds to restore the schoolhouse.

Redlands Real Estate Market Jan.-Sept. 2011
This is a Marketing Report for Redlands, CA for the period of time between January 1st and September 27th, 2011. I have divided the chart into 3 categories.
·         Standard Sales
·         Bank Owned Sales
·         Short Sales

This chart shows Closed Sales divided up by the last 9 months.
Standard Sales have gone up (August had 43 standard sales)  which is very good news for the homesellers who has been holding off listing their homes. As you can see in September the short sales and standard sales are down but there are still 4 days … (6 comments)

Eat, Drink and Be Happy in Redlands….Yummy!

For anyone who is following my blog, I have a lunch every Friday with my dear friends and we typically go to a new restaurant in the area. Today we went to an adorable little restaurant called "Sucree Tea and Pastries" restaurant.
Here we are having tea before our lunch arrived.

The restaurant is adorable and has Alice in Wonderland prints. Tables with linen tablecloths and napkins, teapots and teacups. Look at the varieties of teas on the back hutch.

Friendship Friday- Lunch with Mary and While the Cats Away………

Met my friend Mary today for lunch as it is Friday; yes Friendship Friday. For any of you who have not read my blog before, I meet with friends every Friday. Work all week but Friday lunch is my time to relax and enjoy friends. Today we met at the restaurant “Olive Garden” for the soup and salad special. Yummy, it is my favorite. And they have a new sauce, mushroom with sun dried tomatoes on top. Of course I didn’t order it and wished I had.

kristin hamilton sells redlands: Redlands Harris-Gottschalks...Gone but not Forgotten - 09/01/11 03:47 AM
In 1905, The Harris’ Company opened its first store in downtown San Bernardino, CA.
Surprisingly, during my research of this article, I found that the Harris Brothers opened their second store in 1908 on State Street in Redlands which later burned down in 1925. The Harris brothers rebuilt this store in 1926. Harris was an important part of Redlands history.
Harris took a chance in 1957 and went with a new concept by opening a large store in Riverside, CA at the Riverside Plaza out of the downtown section. The Harris Company built a reputation for offering high quality merchandise and … (4 comments)

kristin hamilton sells redlands: Dare to Look at My Bears; Alaskan Bears - 08/17/11 05:21 AM
Dare to Look at My Bears!
While in Ketchikan, Alaska last summer we flew on a sea plane out to this island where we walked into a salmon hatchery run by the Government. We stayed about 1.5 hours and got to see maybe 50 bears or more. They got about 10 feet from us at times but there is a metal grate between us and I suspect the tour guide had a gun tucked away to use if necessary. But all the bears care about is eating the Salmon eggs and seem very happy and full. I just wanted to share … (6 comments)

kristin hamilton sells redlands: Speechless Sunday-Stop and Smell the Flowers - 08/07/11 01:32 PM
Speechless Sunday-Stop and Smell the Flowers!
Here is one of my favorite pictures I would like to share on this beautiful Sunday afternoon. I caught a glimpse of my dog, Gidget, in the backyard smelling the flowers.

I think we all work in a hard market and probably most of us work 24/7 most weeks. Yes, we should all "Stop and Smell the Flowers" before they wilt and fall to the ground. We need to look around and appreciate what we see instead of always dwelling on what we want.
