Blood Moon April 15, 2014.....Spectacular Last night the first of five lunar moon eclipses occurred and was spectacular. It was visible to spectators in North and South America.
I was outside at 11:40 pm PST to start taking pictures. Hope everyone got a chance to see it.
You can see it was getting totally dark after midnight but still had the red glow. The next Blood Moon will occur on October 8, 2014.
In the Maine Farmers' almanac page for August 1937, the calendar ‘Definition of a Blue Moon’ explained that occasionally "one of the four seasons would contain four full moons instead of the usual three."
There are seven Blue Moons in a Lunar Cycle of nineteen years and commenting that in olden times the almanac makers had much difficulty calculating the occurrence of the Blue Moon and this uncertainty gave rise to the expression 'Once in a Blue Moon.'
According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, this moon in June was called Strawberry Moon but in the past few years is know as Supermoon as it is the closest time in the year to earth. The next Supermoon will be in August 2014. Hope everyone got a chance to see it last night. Its closest time was midnight EST in the US.

Full Flower Moon was on May 25, 2013. It was given this name because in most areas there were flowers popping up everywhere. Other names for this moon were "Full Corn Planting Moon" and "Milk Moon".
Did you get a chance to see how beautiful the full moon was? I am fasinated by the solar and lunar phases and love to take pictures of full moons.

The first full moon of 2013 occurred on Saturday January 26 and I got some good pictures that night. The moon looked awesome.
Some call it the Wolf Moon, which the Farmer’s Almanac attributes to the Algonquin’s and other American Indians, under the notion that hungry wolves would howl on the outskirts of Native villages in the dead of winter.
According to EarthSky.org, the January full moon—like the July sun—”follows a high path across the sky as seen from the northern part of the globe, and a low (14 comments)
February's full Moon is traditionally called the Full Snow Moon because usually the heaviest snows fall in February.
Hunting becomes very difficult, and so some Native American tribes called this the Hunger Moon, Bone Moon, and No Snow in the Trails Moon. There was very little food and many starved unless they found animals. Several nights ago I saw the moon as I was coming home. Normally you just see the crescent part but tonight you could see the entire moon in the background.
Totally Awesome! It is called a Waxing Crescent of the Lunar Phase.

Taking pictures of the moon last night was so beautiful and it was so perfectly clear. I think people are nicer when it is a full moon? What do you think?
The full moon was on July 3rd but it was still 96% here on the 5th. Still the moon is beautiful and so mysterious.

Tonight I was outside trying to take some moon photos and much to my surprise the clouds were moving so fast and a red halo surrounded the moon which made it difficult to get clear shots. Later, the halo effect widened. So I researched this for an explanation and here is the Folklore interpretation; “And should the Moon wear a halo of red, a tempest is nigh”. English Translation: A storm is near..
Then I looked up the scientific interpretation and it said “Clouds moving in, cold front off shore, high winds (25 comments)
