Things to Do if You Live in an Earthquake State

*I am sharing information from FEMA and Dept. of Homeland Security.
Califorinia has had a lot of shaking going on recently. Many other states have earthquakes and it is always better to be prepared. If you live in a Hurricane, Tornado, or Flash Flood state, you can prepare just like the residents who prepare for earthquakes. It is so important to be ready for natural hazards that can happen at a moment's notice.
The recent earthquakes in Orange, Los Angeles and Napa Counties remind us all of the importance of … (10 comments)

During the Drought Even Birds Must Search for Water
As most know, California is in a drought and most of us are not using our sprinklers full board and we have had very little rain in the past few months.

When I came home the other day, this colorful pigeon had landed near my car and was just walking around. Then he stuck his head into the drain from the backyard and was drinking the water inside.

I have read that the drought effects the wildlife and I am sure that is true.

real estate: How To Survive the Drought - 03/24/14 04:53 PM
How To Survive the Drought

There are many water saving ideas at the home improvement stores. Whether or not you want to take on a project inside or out, any water saving devices will save you money. Many homeowners in my area are removing their grass and putting rocks or artificial turf down. It is amazing how it really looks like grass and cleans up nicely with a hose. Not even the dogs who walk by know it is not real.
According to the above chart over half the water usage is from outside but taking long showers is another … (20 comments)

Starfish - A Special Meaning
At Christmas time, the organization I belong to, Women's Council of REALTORS®, had a luncheon and invited Heidi Mayer of YOUTH HOPE to come. 18 Real Estate Professionals had brought bags of new, warm clothing for the "Homeless Teens" that Heidi takes care of. The Youth Hope kids had made Christmas ornaments with the starfish and attached a poem. Here is the poem:

Just remember your single actions can save someone. You cannot save everyone but you can save a few. Get involved, pay it forward to others  and make a difference. Your actions can … (12 comments)

Do You Celebrate St.Patrick's Day?

History
The Day of the Festival of Patrick is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated on 17 March every year. It is named after Saint Patrick (AD 385–461), the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland. Today St. Patrick's Day is celebrated across the world with Cornbeef & Cabbage and Green Ale. Many Americans came from Ireland so this holiday is just second to Christmas. I am proud to be Irish! Here's to success beyond your wildest imagination with blue skies above you and the luck of the Irish on your side!

Check Out 14 New Words Added to the Oxford Dictionary for 2014

Every few months, The Oxford Dictionary adds a few words. According to statistics, there are about 1.8 billion new words per year and usually about a 1,000 end up in the Dictionary. Here are a few of the newest ones. Truthfully, I had no idea what a coupe of them were but learned while writing this.

real estate: Full Moon Over Calimesa- Crow's Moon - 03/16/14 03:23 AM
Full Moon Over Calimesa

I was in the car (passenger) last night so I took pictures with my cell phone as the full moon was so grand. This full moon in March is called the "Crow Moon".

This is the last full moon of the winter known as Crow Moon, Worm Moon, Crust Moon, Sap Moon, Lenten Moon or Sugar Moon. The cawing of the Crows signaled that winter was finally over.

Crust Moon came from the fact the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night. Sap or Sugar Moon signaled … (6 comments)

ASICS LA Marathon - From the Stadium to the Sea
This morning I watched the ASICS LA Marathon on TV that started at Doger's Stadium and ended at Santa Monica. It was so exciting and remember the feeling when I used to go the night before and run the marathon myself. Those days are gone with my bad knees now I just walk instead and watch the marathon on TV instead.

This morning the winners were not so clear cut as usual as no one knew for sure until the end who would win. The "Elite Male" group was down from … (4 comments)

Mummified Body Found in Foreclosed Home by Contractor

A home in Pontiac, Michigan went into foreclosure recently and a contractor was hired to clean it out for the new owner. When the contractor went into the garage, there was an old Jeep and much to his surprise, he found a mummified body in the back seat. Investigators found the keys still in the ignition.
The home has been now been classified a hazmat scene as they found 'Black Mold" on all the walls in the house. Investigators removed the car and the body out last night for further investigation.

It's Raining and I Cannot Go Outside
California is on storm watch and the rain this weekend has been pretty steady. My two dogs are sad that they cannot go outside and play in the rain.

So since they could not go outside, they just snuggled up and took naps.

We are experiencing a drought in California so I am so grateful for the rain this weekend. It is pouring right now! Keep up those "Raindances" as we need more rain.

Hey Where is Everyone Today on the Golf Course?

Today we had day 1 of a 3 day rainstorm. I was at a WCR event at the Redlands County Club and the golf course is usually full of golfers and their carts. It was pouring rain and no one was around except the birds who were jumping on the course. You cannot tell but it was pouring rain and I am sure the bird were waiting for the worms to pop up.

Here is a picture showing how hard it was really raining.
