real estate: My Movie-Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House - 02/27/14 02:17 AM
My Movie-Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House
Mr. & Mrs. Blandings lived in the city in a high rise apartment. He rode the bus to work which was 25 blocks away and his wife usually took the elevator to the 20th floor unless the elevator was broken and that seemed to be always. This could be difficult when carrying 5 bags of groceries after the taxi dropped her off.

Blandings decided to move to the country and buy a little fixer with the money they had been saving. So they called Kristin Hamilton; Realtor in Redlands.
Kristin was … (16 comments)

Faulty Wiring Can Cause Major Fires

This was a very vibrant and busy restaurant and bar. Faulty wiring caused a major fire and the apartment dwellers upstairs did get safely out with their pets. It could have been a lot worse.
Make sure you hire licensed contractors to do your electrical and plumbing jobs and make sure your insurance is up to date.

real estate: My Pictures of Washington D.C. and The History of President's Day - 02/17/14 02:22 AM
My Pictures of Washington D.C and The History of President's Day

Presidents’ Day is a US national holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February. This date was originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington and is still officially called “Washington’s Birthday” by the federal government.

Traditionally celebrated on February 22—Washington’s actual day of birth—the holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers. Many states still celebrate the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and others, Presidents’ … (6 comments)

Do You Text, Email and Snail Mail Out Greeting Cards to Friends & Clients?

I have to admit I do not always get my cards in the mail on 'every' holiday even though I try very hard. I will buy them, print labels and even buy the stamps but sometimes I just get some or none at all sent. I suspect I am not alone here.
I did get Valentine Day cards out last Tuesday but the weather was so bad many people in other states have still not received them but they will next week hopefully.
I try to remember … (0 comments)

real estate: Beautiful Blue Jays in California - 02/16/14 12:36 PM
Beautiful Blue Jays in California
Western Scrub-Jays are very loud and protective of their nests. Also they bury food and have the ability to remember where they have buried the items, often weeks later.

The Jays usually know where all the birds of prey have their nest. Just before dusk, they will stand nearby and make a big fuss if there is an owl or hawk sleeping. Just before the bird of prey wakes up, they run off and hide. Such a comical feat for such a little Blue Jay.

This little bird gets mad every time I show … (6 comments)

real estate: Do You Have Radon Gas Under Your House - 02/12/14 12:56 AM
Do You Have Radon Gas Under Your House?
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that is released during the natural decay of uranium, which is present in most rock, soil and water. It is the leading cause of lung cancer deaths among nonsmokers and is also one of the disclosures required in California NHDs for all residential property transactions.

Radon can be found throughout California since uranium exists in rock and soil. Every home is within a radon zone- ranging from Zone 1 (High Potential) to Zone 3 (Low Potential). Zone 1 has the highest potential for an indoor … (8 comments)

Horses at Fascination Ranch in Calimesa

Where else can you drive down the street and see people horseback riding? That's right, not many places in Southern California but can be a common site in Calimesa and Yucaipa, CA.
There is a ranch in Calimesa called Fascination Ranch. It is a terrific place to see wildlife, plan a wedding or just have a social event. Check out their website at http://fascinationranch.com/. Notice they are wearing helmets while riding as they practice good safety skills for their clients.

When I was reading about the ranch's history, I found that the Singleton Ranch was … (15 comments)

Short Sale I Closed Was a Wonderful Couple I Loved to Help #2
I a few years ago, I met a wonderful couple who moved next door to one of my relatives. When I met them, I just thought they were the cutest and sweetest couple. We were at the top of the market just before the collapse so they paid a lot for their home and did a 80/20 loan.
Over the next few years, they had a couple of kids and contacted me when they were expecting their third. They asked if i could help them sell their home. It was … (8 comments)

A Favorite Client of Mine and Why I Love Real Estate #1

About 2 years ago, I had a call from a friend and she told me her next door neighbor was wanting to sell her home and would I call her. She told me they were great friends and she wanted her to have a competent agent to sell her home.
I immediately met with the lady and we listed her lovely home within a day. She told me she was a Retired Doctor at a large university and wanted to move back east with her family. She was so … (8 comments)

6 More Weeks of Winter According to Phil at Punxsutawney
Punxsutawney Phil of Pennsylvania is the world's most famous forecaster. Phil  popped out of his burrow Sunday morning and saw his shadow and predicted six more weeks of winter while the crowd gathered at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, PA.
According to folklore, if it's cloudy when the groundhog emerges, the critter will leave his burrow, signifying that winter will soon end. If it's a sunny day, Phil will supposedly see his shadow and, frightened, retreat back into his burrow, and winter will continue for six more weeks.
Phil emerged at 7:28 a.m. but … (4 comments)

Did You Know there is a Color of the Year for 2014....Color me Happy

Silly me...I did not know there was a color of the year. But I love the color orchid or lavender and find myself taking pictures of anything this color.

According to the Pantone Color Institute Website, the Pantone Color Institute has been designating a Color of the Year to express in color what is taking place in the global zeitgeist since 2000. This year, 2014, they have chosen the color "Radiant Orchid".

The Art of Making a Vision Board and Redirecting Your Life

Until recently I had never heard of a vision board but have been a firm believer in the video “The Secret” where your mind can control your destiny.

The photo album laced with ribbon hanging on my office wall with pictures, shapes I adore, and images of cruise ships, titles or pictures of places I want to visit lastly and a picture of a baby (because I would like to be a grandmother) is a vision board even though I didn’t know it.
