sell your home: CA Low SnowPack in Mountains is Causing Statewide Drought

CA Low SnowPack in Mountains is Causing Statewide Drought Last week California water officials performed one of their regular measurements of the state’s snowpack and confirmed it is a startling 5 percent of normal – the lowest April 1 total on record. That snowfall in the state’s mountains – specifically the Sierra Nevada – serves as natural “frozen storage” for surface water supplies. Its runoff feeds streams, rivers and reservoirs throughout the year and provides about 30 percent of the water Californians depend on for drinking, growing food and other uses in a typical year. The California snowpack is historically at its peak by (4 comments)

This week in Indian Wells, CA, firefighters had to be dispatched as a 71 year old woman who lived in a gated community was being attacked by killer bees as she was getting into her car. The other neighbors had run inside and shut their doors and windows and called 9-1-1. Firefighters called the owner of a company called Killer Bee Inc., who volunteers his services to the county and has 40+ years experience with tending bees. He found 75,000 African Agreesive Bees in the underground Verizon box. He sucked (12 comments)
We have had some really cold weather this winter and these plants have continued to grow and not freeze even in the snow one morning in January. Most of my other plants did freeze so this seems to be a really hearty plant. And the blooms are beautiful and remind me of pinwheels.

Did you know that March 6 every year is National Oreo Day? Now this is my kind of day and I am sure many of you will agree. Oreos come in many sizes, flavors, and even ice cream. Do you like cream filling, chocolate, double stuffed, peanut butter (new), bite size, ice cream sandwiches, and snack packs. I think they are all good but I might like to try the peanut butter soon. How do you like your Oreos? Besides having an assortment of flavors, there is another (14 comments)
I live in Southern California but even here, the food for birds becomes scarce during the cold winter months. I try to feed the backyard birds and also the hummingbirds who stay for the winter. Last winter, 2013-2014, when there was only about 10 homeowners in my neighborhood so we did not have many birds but this year we have over 50 homeowners and many birds stuck around for the winter.
I have some bird photos here from the Cornell Bird of Ornithology site.
Though it is still winter in many parts of the country, in Southern California the ducks are getting ready for new spring families of ducklings. Our lakes and ponds are cold but not frozen over. Ducks and Geese are making nests and soon their families will be floating in the lakes and ponds.
The Canada Geese are struting around and looking for a good place to make a nest near the water.
Here is a cute picture of momma duck taking her ducklings into the pond in Calimesa last summer. (8 comments)

Southern California is a Beautiful Place to Retire Souther California has great weather, lots of gated communites, golf courses everywhere, nature areas to enjoy wildlife, walking and hiking trails, bike lanes on the city streets, and of course many Veteran Hospitals in all the major cities.
This morning we had an unexpected rainstorm so I got up and videotaped it.
Here are some pictures of the sky later in the day. Even when we have rain we have beautiful weather as we are about 77 degrees today in the middle of summer.

Why are they Called Short Sales when they are Long Sales?
“Why do they call them Short Sales?” This is the #1 question I get all the time from my sellers, my buyers, and callers. Well, there is a very simple explanation to this question. The type of sale is called a “short sale” because the bank is referring to the loan amount being short at close of escrow. The “short” is not a reference of time but instead the payment of the loan in full. Therefore, the lender (4 comments)

Every morning I look out my office window on the 2nd floor in Loma Linda, CA and observe the big tree across the street. The birds love to land on the branches and it is so much easier to see them in the winter when the limbs are bare.
Now that the limbs are sprouting their green foliage, it is a more colorful time of the year but of course it is harder to see my little friends hiding in the greenery.

Watch as the ISS passes over the Aurora Borealis above Hudson Bay, lightning storms in Africa, a comet's glowing tail and city lights shining from a dark Earth.
I had been working on real estate matters for several days straight so I did not get home in time to fill the bird feeders. Finally Saturday morning I filled them up and this Finch was so funny as he sat on one of the feeders for the longest time and would not let any other bird land on it.
His expression was priceless….Back off!
