The hibiscus species is commonly known in tropical and subtropical places all over the world. In Hawaii, the flower is placed behind the ear showing if the person is available for marriage.
In Mexico, the flower is made in a drink called Jamaican water. In the Caribbean, the flowers are used to make tea and jam.
In Egypt and Sudan, the flowers are also used to make tea. In India, the red flowers and leaves are used to make a shampoo that cures dandruff and hair-fall.
