wwwkristinblogcom: I Saw A Yellow Bird - 12/30/11 06:02 AM

©I Saw A Yellow Bird©
Yesterday, I took a few hours off to go look for interesting birds in Redlands, CA. I found this bird hiding in the trees and it was very much camouflaged. I got a couple of photos before he flew away. He was making all kinds of noise; not sure if he was on alert or singing.

I determined that it is probably a “Yellow-rumped Warbler”.

I had never seen this bird species before. It is very pretty but blended into the trees nicely so it made it hard to get a … (22 comments)

wwwkristinblogcom: My First Red Tailed Hawk Siting - 12/23/11 04:31 AM
My First Red Tailed Hawk
I was so excited yesterday as I noticed this huge hawk sitting on my back fence. I went to get my camera but he spotted something to eat in the neighbor’s yard and he was gone in a flash! I went out front and there he was just sitting in my tree....waiting for me to take his picture!
He let me take about 10 photos and then flew off…..never to be seen again.

I like how you can see the white on tip of his tail feathers.

He was sitting so still for me. I … (18 comments)

wwwkristinblogcom: Blue Bird Come Out of the Tree - 12/20/11 11:05 AM
Today, while driving home from our office meeting and ALC meeting, I stopped at the Lowe’s parking lot in Redlands, CA. Recently, I noticed the birds seem to hang around there. As I was waiting, a blue bird flew by and sat on the curb beside me. I was so excited but unfortunately missed that great first shot. But I did get some other good ones.

Get out of the tree so I can take your picture!

Just sitting there posing for me.

Flew down to the sidewalk but he is now hiding; you can only see his head.

wwwkristinblogcom: December’s Season of Sharing and Celebrations~ Senior Donation Tree at Wal-Mart - 12/18/11 05:31 AM
December’s Season of Sharing and Celebrations~ ©©©Senior Donation Tree at Wal-Mart©©©
While shopping early Saturday morning at the Wal-Mart in Redlands, CA., I spotted a cheerful looking tree as I came through the door and said hello to the greeter. (I love the greeters as they make you feel special) Anyway, I had to get a picture of the tree and what a great charity, to give to seniors who might not have much to open this year. A pair of slippers, a warm robe, a blanket throw, some toiletries, a book. The tree has names, sizes and suggestions. I was … (6 comments)

The Photo Contest-  ©My Cookie Tree©
Here is my Kitchen Cookie Tree. All the ornaments are shaped like cookies or actual cookie cutters. I put some recipe cards on the tree held with tiny clothespins. The recipes were my mother’s cookies, baked breads and her southern cornbread. She may have passed on in 2009 but she is still in my heart © and a part of our family. I think she would like the tree if she were here. My daughter is flying in next week and I think she will be surprised. Making cookies has been a family tradition since … (18 comments)

wwwkristinblogcom: Mother Nature Decorating for the Holidays - 12/14/11 04:50 AM
©Christmas Berry Bush Blooming for the Holidays©
I spotted this huge "Christmas Berry" bush growing about 10 feet high near the Alta Vista Credit Union in Loma Linda. How beautiful it looked standing there with all its huge clumps of berries. No birds around!  I am not sure but think the berries are not edible. Too bad as they look delicious and birds always searching for food in the winter.

Still the bush, or should I say tree, is lovely. Isn't it lovely the way Mother Nature decorates for us! Happy Holidays.

Tonight I went to the Riverside Galleria Mall in Riverside, CA. This first picture is of an absolutely gorgeous tree outside the Cheesecake Factory. It was totally covered in lights. Everyone seemed amazed and standing around taking pictures.

This second tree was inside Nordstrom’s Department Store. It was so unique that I had to share. It had numerous birdhouses and a few birds on the tree.

I love this tree!

wwwkristinblogcom: Look Who Was Sleeping On My Porch Tonight - 12/11/11 06:51 PM
♪♪Look Who Was Sleeping On My Porch Tonight♪♪
Tonight, the frigid weather is down to 30 degrees right now. When I came home a few minutes ago, look who was sleeping on my front porch.

I love the backyard birds and have several feeders for them in the backyard.

Do you think the big owl statues keep the birds away? No, not at all at my house anyway. That owl has been there for 2 years and many birds perch above the window regardless.

I got up at 5:30 a.m. to get some lunar eclipse pictures but unfortunaely it was just too cloudy here.

I took pictures from 5:47 a.m. until 6:35 a.m but no eclipse here!

I took some sunrise pictures so it wouldn’t be a total loss.

My dog, Tootie, got up with me and she is not a morning girl. Followed me around taking pictures but finally ran upstairs.

Every morning, my CoCo sits at the front door waiting for the FedEx Truck to zoom down the street at 50 miles per hour. She loves to bark at the truck. She goes to the door right after she eats breakfast and will wait all day until the truck arrives. She likes the UPS truck too but he doesn’t drive as fast or make as much noise.
