An article in today's Herald Tribune seems to point towards that. It appears our market has stabalized and is doing fairly well compared to many others in Florida, according to the article. "Florida's best known economist says the Sarasota-Manatee residential property market bottomed out in September-October and has now stabilized in both price and volume.""Hank Fishkind predicts flat prices for both counties through 2010, as the region chews through excess inventories of new houses and condominiums." Another positive article in today's newspaper states that area home sales and prices continue to rise. "November is the third consecutive month that home sales and prices have exceeded the previous month." "The median price of an existing home in Bradenton-Sarasota was $267,700 in November, $3,600 higher than it was just one month before." "The biggest positive price jump in 2007 occurred between September and October, where median sales prices increased by nearly $20,000." I was reading the newspaper online this morning, and was happy to see that condo sales have increased 10% from this time last year in the Bradenton-Sarasota market. It is mentioned in the above article about 3/4 of the way through the article. Condominium results in Sarasota-Bradenton for both the third quarter and for October are signs of improvement.Last month, condo sales were up 10 percent, from 193 to 212. There is talk of making Lakewood Ranch into it's own city. Even though it's a huge community with just about everything you need already in place, I'm not sure how happy the residents living there would be about this. What would be the cost of turning Lakewood Ranch into it's own city? What are the positives and the negatives of doing this? I wonder how many people would move out of the area if this was passed? Manatee County says they will now start handing out citations to people that are watering their lawns more than once a week. The citations will be issued only after the violators have been warned twice. On the third offense a citation will be issued. The first citation will carry a $50 fine, with subsequent violations resulting in potential fines of $100 to $500. An employee has just completed the training needed in order to become certified to issue citations. The watering restrictions will remain in effect until at least September 30th.
