mortgage brokers: Thousands of criminals have been working in Florida's mortgage industry. - 07/22/08 12:58 AM
I was reading the news online this morning and of course this headline caught my attention right away.
"The report says the Florida Office of Financial Regulation issued licenses to more than 10,000 people with criminal records, including more than 4,000 that cleared background checks despite committing crimes such as fraud, racketeering and extortion."
"The office is also accused of failing to perform criminal background checks most of the time, despite a state law that mandates such checks."
"The man in charge of the Office of Financial Regulation, Commissioner Don Saxon, says he has no idea why his staff issued licenses to bank robbers … (12 comments)

mortgage brokers: Local Banks vs. Mortgage Brokers - 09/05/07 01:24 AM
Maybe some mortgage professionals could share a bit of info with us?  My question is what is the difference between going directly to your local bank or using a Mortgage Broker?  I'm asking because someone I know is trying to refinance and the Mortgage Broker we have done a lot of business with couldn't seem do anything for her.  This is a Mortgage Broker that use to be able to get anyone a loan.  If there was a loan for someone, she could find it.  So it appeared as if this person wasn't going to be able to re-fi out of her ARM.  … (29 comments)

mortgage brokers: What Are Your Thoughts On What is Going To Happen? - 08/18/07 02:13 AM
Anyone care to share with us what your thoughts are on what is going to happen short term or long term due to many of the sub-prime lenders closing their doors and some of the large prime lenders now screaming of financial difficulties and some of them may be going under?
I hate to say this....but didn't they see this coming?  I mean really, there for a long while it seemed like if you had a pay-stub and an address to a house you wanted to buy, they could find you a loan.  It seemed like all the ads you saw, read something … (7 comments)

mortgage brokers: Facebook - 07/19/07 07:13 AM
Ok, so I joined Facebook and have no idea what to do with it.  I figured out how to create my profile, add some photos and some other applications.
I also figured out how to search my address book to find people that belong to Facebook and send them a friend request.  However, I can't seem to find any easy way to search for people in general.  Am I missing something along the way that allows you to search new profiles, or people in certain career categories?
I found how to add groups....but there are thousands of them, and a lot of them … (9 comments)

mortgage brokers: Ziki? What the heck is a Ziki? - 07/11/07 12:46 AM
Ever hear of Ziki?  I certainly hadn't.  With so many websites out there, it's hard to keep track of what's new and which one's I should be joining.
So what exactly is a Ziki and why should you have one?  "Ziki enables users to create an official webpage (a ziki) which is guaranteed to appear as a top search result on Google, Yahoo! and MSN. This allows our members to create, manage and optimize their online presence & identity."  Click here for a better explanation.  There's even a Ziki Blog.

mortgage brokers: The fern and the bamboo - 06/27/07 01:33 AM
Someone just forwarded this to me in an email.  And I thought it was pretty cool!!
One day I decided to quit.... I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality..... I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
'God', I said. 'Can you give me one good reason not to quit?' His answer surprised me...'Look around', He said. 'Do you see the fern and the bamboo?' 'Yes', I replied.'When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern … (2 comments)

mortgage brokers: It's So Easy, Even A Caveman Can Do It!! - 06/26/07 12:06 AM
Ok, so have you ever noticed in some of your blog posts, the double spacing sometimes of things that shouldn't be double spaced?  You have no clue on how to fix it, because every time you hit enter, it just automatically double spaces it?  It's annoying and it makes the post look kinda weird sometimes, because there are extra spaces in between things that shouldn't have extra spaces!
Well I have the solution for you!!
After then end of the word that you want to have a single space after it, instead of hitting the enter key, hit the "Shift" key and the … (14 comments)

mortgage brokers: I need a GOOD Mortgage Broker in the Manatee County area - 05/18/07 11:40 PM
I still have yet to be able to find a really good Mortgage Broker in my area (Manatee County, Florida) that I have wanted to stick with or recommend to more buyer's.
I prefer to work with local Mortgage Broker's, but at this point if I can't find a GOOD one to stick with, then I'm going to start looking outside of the area.
For whatever reasons the one's I have run into do not return my phone calls, don't return my buyer's phone calls, you can never reach them, they are rude, had one I liked on one deal I did with him … (10 comments)
