Manatee County says they will now start handing out citations to people that are watering their lawns more than once a week. The citations will be issued only after the violators have been warned twice. On the third offense a citation will be issued. The first citation will carry a $50 fine, with subsequent violations resulting in potential fines of $100 to $500. An employee has just completed the training needed in order to become certified to issue citations. The watering restrictions will remain in effect until at least September 30th.
