Many factors were favorable for mortgage rates this week. Weaker than expected economic data, strong results for the Treasury auctions, and renewed concerns about weaker European countries all helped mortgage rates end the week at the lowest levels of the year. All of the major economic data released during the week was weaker than expected. First quarter Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the broadest measure of economic growth, was unchanged at 1.8%. As a result, mortgage rates ended the week lower. In recent weeks, the primary influence for mortgage rates has shifted from global events in Japan and the Middle East to the outlook for inflation. I recentlly read this article and thought I'd share.  According to Realtor.org and MSNBC, things are starting to look up in the Real Estate industry.  Dallas placed at #6 while Houston placed at #2 in cities that are expected to see a rise in property value; this makes me very happy to be a Texas agent. =)  With property values and interest rates on the rise, there has truly never been a better time to buy, especially in Texas.  See the article below..
