Mr. Benefield pioneered development in DeKalb County, GA and several other metro Atlanta Counties and has been an active Realtor for over 60 years. He is one of the founders and a charter member of the DeKalb Association of Realtors and one of the original organizers and a charter member of Georgia Multiple Listing Service.

Decatur, GA Benefield Realty Company was founded by C.E. Benefield in 1948. At that time most of DeKalb County remained undeveloped countryside and dairy farms. Mr. Benefield started out working with builders, finding spot lots for them, and handling the sales. Growth began to head East out of Atlanta and the demand for lots in DeKalb increased. Beginning in the early 1950's and through the mid 1970's, Benefield Realty became heavily involved in developing subdivisions in DeKalb, Clayton, Fulton, Rockdale, and Gwinnett Counties. My how times have changed. Technology & gadgets have made our lives much more convenient and productive these days, although I must admit, I do miss the personal contact a little. Back when I got into the business: 1). There were no fax machines. When you wrote up a contract, you hand delivered it to the listing brokers office. 2). You needed plenty of carbon paper on hand.
