starbucks: Look out Oklahoma and Texas - Top Pot is coming

I guess I'm on a Starbucks caffeine high right now. Seems like Starbucks' Chairman, Howard Schultz, has a soft spot in his heart for all things Oklahoma. First, he sells the Seattle Sonics to an Oklahoma Citian (what do you call someone from Oklahoma City?). Now, he's exporting another homegrown Seattle business to Oklahoma...and Texas. Top Pot Doughnuts serves the best doughnuts in Seattle, hands down. Since its founding in a small shop in Capitol Hill in 2002, Top Pot has expanded with additional stores in downtown and North Seattle. And, since 2003, they've been serving up their old fashion hand-dipped doughnuts (1 comments)
Need a cup of joe? Seattle-based Starbucks is hosting a "coffee break" throughout the US and Canada from 10 AM to Noon on Thursday, March 15th. From the Starbucks website: "This week, Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX) will raise its coffee cup in honor of the daily grind by offering customers a break – a coffee break. On Thursday, March 15, 2007, from 10 a.m. to noon, complimentary, tall (12-ounce) cups of brewed coffee will be served in participating Starbucks stores across the U.S. and Canada. “The Starbucks Coffee Break is about more than just enjoying a great cup of coffee,” said Brady Brewer, (3 comments)

I just thought this was amusing (has nothing to do with real estate). It seems some creative people are getting their coffee fix on the cheap. From the Seattle Times - If someone pays $2 for espresso, then fills half the cup with milk at the condiment bar, is that stealing? People are saving $1 to $2 a cup — sometimes more, if they use half-and-half or get extra shots — with creative ordering from the complicated menus of the coffee world.
