philadelphia: 5 reasons to check out the Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk - 12/05/14 05:30 AM

Location: Locust Street to South Street
Yet another great addition to Philly’s outdoor spaces…Here’s 5 reasons to check out the Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk:
1.)  Instead of running next to the river, the boardwalk goes over the water.
2.)  It not only extends the existing trail but seamlessly connects to it.

3.)  Like the existing trail, it can be used for walking, running, and bike riding.
4.)  The views of the skyline! And the scenic overlooks with benches to stop and enjoy these views!
5.)  Solar powered lights make it the perfect spot for evening walks, runs or rides.

philadelphia: La Colombe Flagship - 12/05/14 05:08 AM
The new home base of La Colombe, set in a once vacant warehouse, has an atmosphere not typical of most coffee houses. Upon entering, it’s spacious and open and lets in plenty of natural light via large windows at the front and scattered skylights on the ceiling. The decor is raw/ industrial (mixed use of wood and metal and exposed brick and beams) with a huge mural as the focal point. The sizable space is put to a variety of uses, first and foremost being the cafe, with plenty of space to settle in and stay for a while. It also holds … (0 comments)

philadelphia: Headhouse Square Farmers Market - 12/05/14 04:54 AM
Originally used as an 18th century street market, the open market area in Headhouse Square, known as the Shambles, serves the same purpose today.  Every Sunday, from May through December, the Shambles turns into a vibrant, abundant farmer’s market, carrying on the tradition of years past.  The market offers a variety of goods including seasonal fruits and vegetables, baked goods, and more and is accompanied by food trucks as well serving delicious, ready-to-eat items. It’s a great way to support the local farms and vendors, pick up artisanal goods, and experience a part of history!

This place is a great little spot whether you’re looking to grab morning coffee or an afternoon pick-me-up. The inside makes for a great place to study, do some work, or simply relax and enjoy a drink and tasty treat… or if it’s a nice day, you can have a seat outside!

philadelphia: Wanna Own a Franchise? Think Again. - 02/09/12 01:06 AM
Does a franchise still hold the same value as in the past?  As a broker/owner of a franchise, I ask myself this question more times than one would expect.  But I think it is an important question every broker should ask at different times and under different market conditions. When the market began its fall in 2007-2008, I remember reading an article stating that franchises (particularly the bigger names) would be in greater demand than when business was booming. I thought this made sense, as marketing would be so essential to procure listings and buyers. I am not so sure I … (76 comments)
