review: Restaurant Review - Mangia Mi, Danville, CA - 09/13/11 09:30 AM
I wonder how many of my readers even know of the existence of this little restaurant. A relative newcomer to the Danville restaurant scene, it is nestled down a short walkway off Hartz Avenue, just a little south of the Veterans Hall. It may be small but it makes  terrific use of every inch of space. To get to the entrance, you pass by the outside dining patio, then on entering, you find yourself in what feels like a very stylish, yet informal, wine bar where there is a lively buzz of conversation, a long bar with stools, surrounding an open kitchen, … (2 comments)

review: First Quarter 2011 San Ramon Valley Real Estate Review - 05/03/11 11:18 AM
Buyers and sellers are still asking me if the real estate market has bottomed out and if prices are going to rise any time soon. In view of the contradictory reports you read in the national press, this is not surprising. One week we are in recovery mode, the next week we see predictions of a "double-dip".
It really doesn't matter what you read on a national basis. It is really all meaningless because real estate is local. How can you expect to see similar markets in California and Ohio? Even the East Bay and the South Bay have vastly different … (2 comments)

review: Restaurant Review - Outback Steakhose - 05/03/11 11:08 AM

I've dined at many steak houses on both sides of the Atlantic but I was surprised to realize recently, that I had never had a meal in an Outback Steakhouse. And I had even worked for an Australian company for 6 years! It seemed like it was about time...
In case you don't know, the Outback  is an Australian themed steakhouse restaurant. Although beef and steak items make up a good portion of the menu, the concept offers a variety of chicken, ribs, seafood, and pasta dishes. They emphasize consistently high-quality food and service, generous portions at moderate prices … (2 comments)

review: Restaurant Reviews - The English Agent's Restaurant Awards: for 2011 - 03/14/11 01:01 PM

Well OK, I don't actually give the restaurants an award like the one above but they do get an accolade from me. These are the ones I consider to be the best in their categories.
Best Italian Restaurant
I have to start with Italian. There are probably more Italian restaurants in the Bay Area than anything else. Here my vote goes to Il Fornaio in Walnut Creek. Yes, I know it is a chain but the food is interesting and consistent (although this was not always the case), they seem to try hard and they have a great ambiance in … (2 comments)

review: San Ramon Valley Real Estate - State of The Market - February 2011 - 02/16/11 09:08 AM

It has been a harrowing few years in real estate markets across the nation and even the East Bay home values have been seriously impacted by the economic downturn. Can we look forward to better times in 2011? Is there at least a light at the end of the tunnel? Read on to find out.
We entered 2010 with mortgage interest rates around 5.5%. Now they are around 4.75% and have been for some time. 15 year rates are as low as 4.25% and even lower rates are available for those with the nerve to take on adjustable rate mortgages. … (0 comments)

review: Restaurant Review - Postino Restaurant, Lafayette, CA - 02/09/11 12:31 PM
Once in a while you come across a restaurant that really can claim to be unique, a dining establishment that has a welcoming, old world ambiance that looks like it has been there for a hundred years. Postino is such a place.
It had been a while since Sylvia and I had dined at Postino and it used to be one of our favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, on more than one occasion, we were less than impressed by the meals we had and given the fact that this is not an inexpensive restaurant, we felt that our expectations were perfectly reasonable.
What … (0 comments)

review: Danville CA Real Estate Market Watch - January 2011 - 01/12/11 11:05 AM
Latest Full Months Statistics for Danville CA Homes
(including Blackhawk and Diablo) At the time of writing (January 11th, 2011) there were 142 detached single family homes for sale in Danville CA and 45 condos and townhomes etc., This represents around 3 months supply of homes of all types and would be generally considered a sellers' market by traditional standards. Why then, if this is the case, are we not seeing rising prices? The answer relates to appraised value. Regardless of what price a buyer is willing to pay for a home, if recent comparable sales do not support that … (0 comments)

review: San Ramon Real Estate Market Watch – January 2011 - 01/12/11 10:51 AM
The San Ramon Real Estate Market Latest Full Months Statistics for San Ramon Homes (Source: MAX Contra Costa/Alameda MLS) At the time of writing (January 11th, 2011), there were 113 detached single family homes for sale in San Ramon, CA (about 25% less than a month ago) and 80 condos and town homes etc. (again, about 25% less than December). Taking seasonal variances into consideration, this is perhaps to be expected. New home sellers are typically reluctant to list their homes for sale in January and February and we will probably see some increases from March. The numbers of sales agreed … (2 comments)
