Pennsylvania, “The Keystone State” was given the nickname because it was located at the center of the original 13 colonies and held a key position in the development of the United States, socially, politically and economically, giving our Country it’s foundation. The word “keystone” comes from architecture and is an important stone in an arch, which holds all the other stones in place.
