gambling: Why the Stock Markets Are Acting So Erratic - 01/07/19 07:26 PM
I'm often asked what causes the stock markets to have such large swings.  One day all seems fine, and the next day the Dow Jones is down 1,000 points and a few days later, there is a recovery when the market recovers the 1,000 point loss plus, say, an additional 250 points.

gambling: MORE BILL CHERRY'S GALVESTON MEMORIES -- New eBook - 10/19/13 12:53 AM

In 2000, my first book Bill Cherry's Galveston Memories was published by a small Texas press, VanJus Press. 
Amazingly, the thing sold many, many thousands of copies. 
Today, used copies sell for between 3 and 4 times the original cover price, while new copies that were horded by distributors being several hundred dollars each.
For a few months after Hurricane Ike, they were selling for more than $900 a copy.
Amazing!
Within the past few days, I've published a second round of stories.  This time in the e-Book format, and it's available at amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com.  … (0 comments)

gambling: CASINOS FOR TEXAS? - 03/08/11 01:05 AM
There is a lot of stirring in the State of Texas about submitting a bill to voters that would legalize casino gambling
Proponents talk about how Texans' gambling money leaves the state, going across in the pockets of players into Louisiana and Oklahoma.
They contend that if casinos were approved in Texas, the money leaving here for Louisiana and Oklahoma would, instead, be spent in Texas.  Their conclusion is that it could go a long way in solving State of Texas revenue shortfalls, and boost the economies of the various Texas cities where the casinos would be located.
