wealth coach: The Non-Sequitur in Wealth Building -- A Bad Idea! - 07/03/18 03:33 PM
This is a brief video where I explain that non sequiturs have no place in preparing for your financial future.  Non-Sequiturs vs Wealth Building

In addition to marketing real estate, which I have done since 1966,  for a couple of years shy of that, I have been what people now call a "wealth coach."
I got into the estate building advisory business by accident.  I had just completed graduate school, and was working as a bank officer in my hometown, Galveston, Texas.  A friend came in one day and asked me if I would help his recently widowed mother get her finances in … (1 comments)

wealth coach: Perhaps You've Rolled This Question Over in Your Mind. Many Have. - 04/07/13 12:49 AM
It happens often...
People first ask me what a Wealth Coach is, and then the follow-up question is why am I one?
For years and years my real estate practice as well as my general business practice seems to have been more consultation and advisory rather than a primary goal of marketing a property.
I never planned it that way.  It just happened...
And as clients found my knowledge and opinions helpful, they recommended me to others --- those in the need of a similar service.
In addition to individuals – some wealthy, others just regular people like you and I … (3 comments)

wealth coach: Measuring Cost of Gross Income - Here's What I Did - 03/19/13 01:55 AM
Back when I owned two real estate companies, the analytical part of my business school education found its way into the operation.
<<== Bill in "the Beginning" I knew it was important to be able to measure the following things:
·        How effective were our ads in the different media, and specifically how effective were they for each subcategory – each listing that was advertised
·        Did billboards work?  If they did, was it because of location?  If they didn’t, was it because of location or did that medium bring low results? ·        What was the overall cost to the agency for … (2 comments)

wealth coach: Most Are Never Prepared for the Shock. - 03/14/13 10:38 PM
My guess is that most people who enter the real estate business as salespersons have never attempted to establish and maintain a personal financial life based on commission earnings.
They are in for a shock.
Real estate sales is an odd business, really.  Earnings come in erratic large chunks of money, and those chunks disappear just as fast through erratic stoppage of earnings of those same magnitudes.
How can a family expect to live like that?
In my own companies, I observed many agents, even some who had been around for a long time, who never learned to prepare for lean … (7 comments)

wealth coach: Business Without a Realtor Uniform: Lexus, Rolex & the St. John's Suit - 03/07/13 10:52 AM
Every time I drive by one of the "luxury" Dallas real estate offices, I notice that there are a significant number of Lexuses in the parking lot.
The Realtor Car of Choice===>>
In fact that's what I did today as I was on my way to an appointment in Lakewood.
All of them are new models with fresh wash and wax jobs.
Apparently just like a St. John's suit from the courtier department at Neiman’s, the Lexus completes the preferred lady Realtor uniform, at least it does in Dallas and Houston.
And then my mind always goes back to about 1983.

wealth coach: Your Million Ain't a Million No More. Now What? - 03/03/13 11:11 AM
It’s bad enough that more than one-half of the retired people in the US are living at or below the poverty line.
Most are because they failed to prepare.  And it wasn't their fault.  They had no professional wealth coach to lead them in the correct direction.
But if that isn't bad enough, here's what's going on with those who are using IRAs and 401-Ks.
<<===Reginald Van Gleason, III
A majority of those preparing to retire that have, say, $1 million in their IRAs or their 401-K was enticed by the plans because contributions made during their working years were … (3 comments)

wealth coach: Most Try to Resolve Disputes with "Memory Facts." Bad Idea! - 03/01/13 08:22 PM
In the main, a good portion of people who earn their living selling something do a terrible job of keeping evidential records.

There’s a good chance you’re one of them.
You especially are if you do any negotiating or make any agreements in person or by telephone that you don’t follow up with a written, dated accounting.
And  if you exchange emails or snail mail letters and you don’t keep copies, and keep them in neat, clearly labled files.
How about this?
Have you heard the message on the other end of the line from your bank or a … (4 comments)

wealth coach: Somoas or Thin Mints - An Important Answer Revealed to CMT - 02/26/13 09:47 PM
I’m pretty sure that braggadocios ads in newspapers and magazines that claim some Realtor or real estate company has been selected as The Best are a waste of money.
The idea may have worked full-steam ahead when the public was substantially less educated; say in the 1930s.  But this is more than seventy-five years later when large numbers graduate from high school and college.
We’ve been taught to be cynical and how to weigh evidence and assess an argument.
And the one about you being the best without it being revealed how that conclusion was reached and by whom is vacuous. … (4 comments)

wealth coach: It Happens about Every 10 Years -- The NY Times & I Agree - 02/20/13 12:19 PM
A few days before Christmas I looked at what were being touted as signs that a recovery of the housing market was emanate.
Wanting so badly for that to be a true prediction, those of us who depend on real estate for our livelihood and the wellbeing of our families, began to breathe a sign of relief.
But when I sat back in my easy chair, drank a cup of holiday eggnog, listened to a bit of Beethoven and cogitated on the situation, I couldn’t help but let my mind drift back to the prior bad housing markets I had managed … (3 comments)

wealth coach: Active Rain Member, Erin Bates of Aspen, Asks How to Do It. - 02/19/13 11:30 PM
Erin Bates is a 27-year old Realtor in Aspen.  She commented on a post I wrote about the need to have a financial plan that will succeed in providing for your financial future. .. wealth building.
She wanted to know what I would suggest for someone her age.  She’s already got a 401-k and is making regular contributions to it, she said.
Here’s the answer I posted:
OK, Erin.  Here's the beginnings of a complete answer...an answer I can't fully address here because I don't know your full financial and life-style circumstances.
I learned from the best Wealth Coach ever, observing … (6 comments)

wealth coach: In the Mirror the Word Is ecnarusnI. - 02/19/13 08:43 PM
Stick with me on this one....
For almost as long as the art of recording history has been around, large groups of people have been participating in the concept of sharing the risk.
Of course it’s what we call insurance.
The idea is that if we are one of the few who slips on a banana peel, the cost to us of resolving that accident will be shared by everyone else in the group....the ones who didn't slip on the banana peel but could have.
Most people have little more insurance coverage than that which they are forced to carry – … (1 comments)

wealth coach: I Forgot to Explain the Name! - 02/18/13 12:47 PM

You'll notice that this company has an unusual name -- William S. Cherry & No Company.

The "No" serves an important purpose. You see it's not the abbreviation for "number."
It is the word "No."

Here's why...

Because of the respect of your confidentiality as well as to re-enforcing that only I will be researching and preparing your account...

There IS no company and there never will be.

I'm it!

wealth coach: Securing Your "Life's Wishes" Has to Be an Important Component - 02/08/13 09:10 PM
It is a natural part of life’s wishes to be able to know in our hearts that we will be safe and financially secure when we retire, and that we always will be.
We want to be certain that lack of financial wherewithal will never cause us to be a burden on anyone – not our mate, our children, grandchildren, relatives or friends.
Our primary concern is for our Safe Money to remain safe, and that when we go to be in God’s Heavenly Kingdom, what we have left in our estate to be passed on to loved ones, church and … (0 comments)

wealth coach: Shaklee, the Salvation Army, and You - 02/08/13 12:30 AM
You’ve probably heard of Shaklee.  It’s one of the oldest companies of those that use an honest and ethical marketing pyramiding sales force.
There are a couple of real estate franchise that do as well.
I have a friend who is one of the ministers for the Salvation Army.  She’s helped people all over America and a few foreign countries as well, who are down on their luck.
And she's still blowing and going even though she's in her 80s.
But no one who works in a ministerial position with the Salvation Army can expect to get financially rich.  Their motivation … (3 comments)
