north georgia: Fannin County Voters Have Their Say - North Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains - 11/06/07 10:18 PM
Many of you have been reading my posts about the November 6th election facing Fannin County residents. The resolution to allow liquor by the drink which became a "spirited" (so to speak) issue.  This is a follow-up to report the outcome of the election as reported yesterday evening.
As reported by The News Observer, the referendum was defeated 3871 to 3330 votes with 14 out of 14 precincts reporting.

Fannin County nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia is almost split in half regarding the upcoming beer and wine referendum to be voted on in November.  Business leaders and real estate developers would like to see the referendum pass so that the playing field can be opened up to attract nicer restaurants, boost tourism, create jobs, and keep revenue in the county.  There was an article in the local paper, The News Observer written by Brian Finnicum regarding this issue.  It seems that a group of people who would like to see this referendum pass have been using … (2 comments)

The Blue Ridge Community Theatre located in historic downtown Blue Ridge did it again!  They keep bringing good entertainment to our quaint mountain town.  Tourists and residents alike packed the theatre recently to see the latest performance of "Nunsense".  The actors played to a sold out house. The reveiws say that the play was hilarious and audience members laughed and cried.

Saturday, October 13 at the Fannin County Park soccer fields, there will be "Happy Feet" in the park.  The Fannin County Recreation Department of North Georgia is offering a free outdoor movie which features the motion picture, "Happy Feet".  The movie will be shown on a thirty foot screen and will start as soon as it gets dark.

north georgia: Beer and Wine Referendum set for the November Ballot in Fannin County, North Georgia Mountains - 08/18/07 01:36 PM
Fannin county commissioners and local residents and business owners got together this week to discuss a number of issues relating to the county.  But the heated topic of beer and alcohol which has been an ongoing debate for this county for awhile had many of the folks at odds including the commissioners  who didn't see eye to eye either.
An estimated 70% of beer and wine supporters stormed out of the meeting after a motion was passed to a put beer and wine referendum on the November ballot.  Howie Bruce, Chairman of Fannin County Board of Commissioners felt the community deserved the chance … (9 comments)

Use other people's money$$$  Let's say you purchase a home in the North Georgia mountains for $300,000 with a 10% down payment of $30,000.  Homes in Fannin county are appreciating between 10 to 15% per year (even in this market change).
