Don't forget the camera! The Georgia - Tennessee state line divides the twin cities of McCaysville, GA and Tennessee. You can't miss the blue line painted across Hwy. 60 through the parking lot of the local grocery store. Stand with one foot in Georgia and the other in Tennessee. I purchased the prettiest sofa in a furniture store that was once there. The state line ran through the center of the store. Lake Blue Ridge was one of the many lakes in North Georgia which suffered from last year's drought. But oh, what a difference a little rain can make. Lake Blue Ridge is almost full pool now. Many of the locals use the penstock at the dam as a way to measure the lake level. You can see the dark brown ring around the penstock in the picture above. Hemptown Creek near McCaysville in Fannin County, North Georgiais full of history. This creek is just one of many creeks in Fannin County. The creek's stone dam was destroyed in a flood that occurred about seventeen years ago. A section of the stone wall still remains but the rest of the dam is gone, no longer stretching across the creek. Big chunks of rocks that were left behind serve as a reminder of just how devastating the flood of 1990 was.
