As the mother of a very busy, high school student (not to mention a teenager!) communication is often limited... Ever since I can remember, my girls have been asked the same set of questions each school day. I'm not exactly sure how it all started but suspect there was some parenting column involved that planted the seed. So each day, I'd find out who they sat with on the bus, who they ate lunch with, which was their favorite class that day, etc. This year, I've found myself asking my high school sophomore two added questions: "Who made you smile today?" and "Who did you make smile … (48 comments)
