So Much More Than Sticks and Bricks!
Today I had a settlement with Margaret Rome and a wonderful family that proved once again that what we do is so much more than sticks and bricks.
It all started when Dad had a medical issue. Their son realized that it would be difficult for his parents to stay in the home they had lived in for more than 50 years. He knew that it was going to be important for him to help his parents to find a home that would work better for them.

I received a call from a realtor I had never met before. She was referred by another agent who I work with regularly.
"I am looking for a loan officer for my client. Though they speak English, their first language is Vietnamese and would be most comfortable working with a lender who speaks their language. Agent A said that you might be able to help." Agent B

Today we held a special ActiveRain Meetup in memory of Lee Rome, and in support of Margaret Rome.
When Lee passed away 2 months ago, there was an outpouring of love for Margaret. There were folks that wanted to support her but were unable to attend the service. There were folks that found out much too late to attend. Several spoke to me about getting together the local ActiveRain friends support. At the time, though incredibly touched, Margaret was not ready.

I have been blessed to know Margaret Rome both professionally and personally for several years thanks to ActiveRain.
I had met her husband Lee at some of the ActiveRain meetups and was always in awe of their relationship and the mutual adoration they shared. Meetups were scheduled all over the Country and I was surprised that there wasn't anything scheduled in Maryland. I thought about trying to gather the Maryland Rainers...but then I didn't. I got a call from Ellie McIntire. She wanted to plan something. I suggested she call Margaret. She did and Margaret stepped up and took the "Rains".

Back at the end of February I got the call from Margaret Rome about a lovely family interested in moving in Baltimore. They were not first time homeowner's, they had a home to sell. Of course, Margaret was the listing agent, so I knew it wouldn't be long before they were ready to pack their bags. Yesterday was a great day! My new friend Kathleen purchased her first home, a condo in Mays Chapel and Margaret Rome was her buyer's agent!
Kathleen is blessed by a wonderful grandmother and her grandmother is blessed by Kathleen. Her grandmother told Kathleen it was time for her to buy a place of her own and Kathleen agreed. The search for the right property began.

Margaret Rome had a call from folks (we will call them Mr. and Mrs. X) who were interested in seeing one of her listings. After a short conversation, she suggested that they call the Maryland Mortgage Mama (that's me) for a pre-approval.
