The Katy ISD Education Foundation is hosting a fundraiser titled “Jazz with a Katy Flair” which is being held at Palacio Maria in Katy
( see address below). This is a casual night in Black and White and features the Carla Helmbrecht Quintet. The date is Thursday April 23, 2015 with reception at 6:30 PM and dinner at 7:30 PM.

CPR Training | Taylor High School | American Heart Association
Houston Methodist Hospital ( HMH) along with American Heart Association (AHA) will hold a CPR training class on April 25, 2015 at Taylor High School ( Katy ISD). The classes are scheduled for 9, 10, 11 AM, noon, and 1 PM.
These classes are hands on training at no cost to attendees and are open to the public to anyone 12 years old or older. AHA and HMH will have staff at each session to provide heart education to everyone. In addition free bilingual instruction will be available.

Cinco Ranch Cougars | Boys and Girls | Advance to State Tournament
Congratulations are in order to both the Boys and Girls Soccer Teams at Cinco Ranch High School as both teams won their Region 3 Finals game played yesterday and now advance to the State Championship tournament. Both semi-finals State Championship games will be played next Friday April 17, 2015. The girls semi-final games will be played at 9:30AM and Noon. The boys semi-final will be played at 5 PM and 7 PM. These games will be played at Georgetown’s Birkelback field. The pairings of these games will be announced later today.

I understand many parents of children attending Katy ISD schools are extremely busy with all facets of their lives. As I know based on experience sometimes parents forget the school schedule and children also do not remember to tell their parents about their school schedule. No surprises here.
Friday November 7, 2014 Katy ISD will have early dismissal of all students. Secondary students dismisses at 11:35 PM and Elementary dismisses at 12:40 PM.

Katy ISD has Three (3) High Schools in Top National Rankings
US News publishes an annual list of the Best High Schools rankings in the nation each year in the spring. Its latest rankings released in late April 2014 found three (3) Katy Independent School District ( Katy ISD) High Schools making it into the National Rankings. Katy ISD has seven (7) High Schools in total but Tompkins High School is too new to be ranked as its first graduating class will be in year 2016. .

Morton Ranch High School which is one of the seven high schools in the Katy ISD system will host a special Veteran’s Day concert at the school in the Performing Arts Center on Sunday November 9, 2014. Early Voted Today in Katy! Are you going to Vote?
Last week I posted a blog about early voting in Fort Bend County TX and this early voting mechanism applies to the entire state of Texas I believe. I early voted today October 28, 2014 after working out this morning. There was absolutely no crowd and certainly no line. It was easy and fast. The polls are open for early voting from 7 AM to 7 PM including Friday October 31, 2014 ( Halloween).

Annual 2014 Scarecrow Festival in Cross Creek Ranch Fulshear Texas
Cross Creek Ranch in Fulshear Texas is hosting the 5TH annual Scarecrow Festival on Saturday October 18, 2014 starting at 11 AM and lasting till 4PM. The festival is being held at the hill in Cross Creek Ranch which is located behind the recreational facility in the front of the subdivision. Cross Creek Ranch is physically located off of FM 1093 just west of FM 1463 in Fulshear which is right next door to Katy,Texas. A large section of Cross Creek Ranch is zoned to Katy ISD.

Katy ISD offers students and faculty a filtered Katy Public Wi-Fi on all of its campuses. Students from grades 2-12 can bring to school and use for educational purposes and instruction their own person device. Students are expected to access the Katy filtered Wi-Fi.
