Yes Moms and Dads it is almost time for the winter break to begin for Katy ISD and other school districts all around the area. It is also time for the parents who live in Katy Texas to think of and implement something for these children to do while they are off from school. Children these days in my opinion spend way too much time playing on a computer, IPad or whatever, sending text messages, flipping constantly between TV stations and as they say these days just straight up chillin!

Harris County Branch Libraries announce Holiday Schedule
The Harris County Library system has announced its Christmas Holiday hours. All the Harris county Libraries will close on Friday December 21, 2012 at 5 PM. The system will reopen its doors again Wednesday December 26, 2012 at 10 AM.
The Katy area has two Harris County Branch locations that I cover in my blog. The first is the Maud Smith Marks branch library is located at 1815 Westgreen Blvd. , Katy Texas 77450. The Katy Branch Library is close to the Katy Police headquarters and is located at 5414 Franz Road, Katy TX 77493.

Local Katy Sporting Goods retailer Luke's Locker is offering a FreeYoga class at sunrise starting at 5:15 Am and lasting until 6:15 AM. This class is being held on Wednesday December 19, 2012 right before the Christmas holiday. The Alamo Drafthouse is a very unique type of movie theatre. I previously wrote a blog Titled Ladies Night Out in Katy Texas which took place at Alamo Drafthouse. I did not concentrate on the Drafthouse but spent the article talking about the event. Katy is fortunate to have this movie house attraction readily available.

The EmPowerment Center of Katy Texas will give away toys on Saturday December 15, 2012 starting at 10 AM. The first 500 children accompanied by a parent will receive a toy. The event will include many fun happenings including a visit from Santa Claus, holiday cookies, picture taking with Santa and several other child related activities. Many folks with small children like to track Santa Claus on his journey from the North Pole to the rest of the world. Of course these days there are various web sites available for the parents to assist parents with their tracking job.
First is www.norasssanta.org keeps track of Santa Claus and Rudolph on Christmas Eve as they make their journey.

The Grand Lakes in Katy Texas Community Association is holding its annual Holiday winter festival on Saturday December 8, 2012. The family holiday fun starts at 3 PM and will last until 5PM or so.

A unique and special Christmas light show is being held every evening during the holidays at a historical home in Old Katy. The home is named Cottage Charm and was built in 1905.
