Powder Springs, ga. : A local Powder Springs chef has been cooking up big things! Rian MacDonald has already published his first cookbook. I first met Rian and his wife Lauren(for more about Lauren, see my recent post "Is there Hope For Public Education") at a chili cookoff here in our neighborhood and we have become great friends since that time. Do you know what's the best part of knowing a chef who is writing a cookbook? He cooks the food to take pictures and somebody has to eat it! My survey of the today's market in Country Walk shows 25 home home listings including 6 pending sales. However, 5 of the 6 are foreclsoure or "short sale" listings and only one is a traditional retail sale. Of the 19 homes remaining only 3 are are noted as any kind of foreclosure or short sale. In my opinion, getting the cheap foreclosure homes off the market will help stabilize values and help the sales of traditional, non foreclosure homes.

This years Country Walk Christmas Social is going to be bigger than ever! Monday Dec. 15 is the date for the Country Walk Holiday Social. For the 2nd year in a row Santa himself will be here. I know this is the real Santa because he is listed in my cell phone as "Santa". Stan Kaady will be there to take professional photographs just like when the Easter Bunny was here. Recently, I had the pleasure of doing an adult ed. home buyers class for the Marietta Community School. I have decided to take some of my outline notes and form the into a blog series for home sellers.

See the Space Shuttle and the Space Station from earth - Every night this week! I have posted this before but it is just so cool, and it's happening now! Walk out in to your yard tonight, or any clear night this week, and you can see the space shuttle and the space station. The shuttle is currently docked at the ISS so it will actually appear as one white light moving across the sky. it looks like they will depart on Sunday so they will actually appear as two white dots "chasing" each other across the sky.From the NASA website: … (3 comments)

How about a Dog Park in Powder Springs, Ga? I have heard several people around around Powder Springs mention that they would like us to have a dog park here in the area. This would be a great place to spend some quality outdorr time with our pets. Mayor Vaughn has mentioned that it is being discussed but the location and funding are questionable. One possibility might be the at the linear park that the city has proposed along the Silver Comet Trail. If you live someplace that has a dog park please tell me about it. How big is it? Seven Springs Museum is located in Powder Springs Park in downtown Powder Springs. The museum has a ton of artifacts, photos, and historical information about Powder Springs people, historical homes and buildings, and much more. Ok, so I was taking my daughter to cheer practice this morning and heard that candidate Obama was going to be there at the same time she was having practice! Luckily McEachern High School here in Powder Springshas a very large campus and I was able to dodge any real traffic issues. Of course there was a huge police presence that kept the traffic moving as well. Hi Neighbors, The Country Walk annual 4th of July parade and festivities will be this Friday. So I hope everyone has planned to have a decorated float, bike, car, etc. in the parade. As of today there are 816 homes for sale in Powder Springs, Cobb County, Georgia. From Jan1, 2008 through May 31,2008 there have 231 homes sold in the same area for an average of 46.2 hoes sold per month. What this means is that at the current rate of absorbtion we have a 17.6 month supply of homes for sale. The realty is that many of the homes currently for sale will not sell.
