Hidden taxes or 9-9-9??

Many of you have probably seen this in an email forward or on the Internet.  Maybe just a little sarcastic but the ideas expressed ring so true.

Tax his land, tax his wage,
Tax his bed in which he lays.
Tax his tractor, tax his mule,
Teach him taxes is the rule.

Tax his cow, tax his goat,
Tax his pants, tax his coat.
Tax his ties, tax his shirts,
Tax his work, tax his dirt.

Tax his chew, tax his smoke,
Teach him taxes are no joke.
Tax his car, … (18 comments)

taxes: At the speed of light .... with the windows down! - 05/14/09 08:40 AM
Are you smarter than a fifth grader? ... I want to give full credit that the inspiration for his came from my 11 year old son. We were riding in the car the other day and Ryan asked me Q: "What is the speed of light?"  I could tell that he knew the answer and was going somewhere with the question.... I think it's 186,000 per second, I answered.  Correct!   Q: "So how far is a light year?"   Again I could tell that he knew the answer so I said  "That is the distance that light will travel in … (5 comments)

taxes: So, How much did you pay today?.. Boiling Frogs - 04/15/09 05:16 AM
Yes, I am about to speak out once again against our current system of taxation, but before I do lets remember what is truly important. 20:Then he asked them, "Whose face and name is this?" 21: They said to him, "Caesar's." So he said to them, "Then give back to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."
Mathew 20-21

taxes: Will the American Republic endure..? - 02/13/09 04:24 AM
Last fall, during the Presidential campaigns, I got pretty fed up with BOTH candidates using the tax system as a means to buy or influence how I vote.  You can read my entire article here.   “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money"

taxes: How about some REAL tax reform? - 10/23/08 07:35 AM
I subscribe to RealTown but I rarely if ever post anything there. Today one of the readers asked about something he had heard from former Minnesota Governor, Jesse, Ventura, about eliminating the IRS and establishing a national sales tax.  Very clearly, a few of the people who responded had no idea of how the "Fair Tax would work.  I am no expert but here is my response.

Bruce,
I mostly lurk, and rarely comment here on Real Town, but you have brought me out of the woodwork!
I believe that you and Jesse are talking about what is most often … (3 comments)

taxes: Down payments, taxes, and the Housing reform bill - 08/14/08 02:19 AM
A lot has been said here on Active Rain and many other places about the elimination of seller funded Down Payment assistance programs and many other "reforms" coming out of the housing reform bill.

With the legislation as it is effective Oct 1 the seller a private individual cannot contribute to the buyers down payment.  However there a multitude of local and state grant programs that will give the buyers a down payment.  The big one around here … (6 comments)
