This year's Uptown Whittier Christmas Parade starts at 10 a.m. and runs until Noon on Saturday, December 11, 2010. The theme of the parade this year is "Community Pride", honoring people and organizations that serve the community with an "Americana" theme. The Grand Marshal is Jim West, the President of Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital. Come see Santa Claus, floats, marching bands, horses, drill teams and other exciting examples of the joy of the season in Uptown Whittier.

Uptown Whittier's Grand Illumination takes place Friday, December 3, 2010 in Uptown Whittier. Come see the lighting of the 25-foot tall Christmas tree and enjoy the music of Uptown Whittier. It all takes place from 6 p.m. till 9 p.m. on Friday at Rick's In & Out Burger. Enjoy the music of the season and the holiday cheer of Uptown Whittier. You can get your picture taken with Santa Claus or enjoy the Christmas carolers, the horse drawn carriage and the high school marching band. Whittier Uptown Family Fair Grand Opening 2010 The Uptown Whittier Family Fair had it's Grand Opening last night in Uptown Whittier. The weather was perfect, and the vendors were ready for a great season. It has been nearly two years since I wrote a blog about the Weekly Family Fair in Uptown Whittier, where I mentioned Vinatero Wine Shop as one of my favorite places in Whittier. Since then, Vinatero Wine Shop has won two awards from myfoxla for "Best Wine Shop in the Los Angeles Area" for both 2007 and 2008. Will they win again in 2009? My money is on Vinatero! Weekly Family Fair in Uptown Whittier is the Place to Go for Fun, Food and Shopping In the summertime, you will often find me on Wednesday evenings in Uptown Whittier, walking up and down Greenleaf Avenue during the Weekly Family Fair. The street is blocked off and filled with vendors under canopies. Among them you will find sellers of products such as candles, toys and jewelry, and services such as massage, ear candling and non-profit groups.
