armed forces: Thanksgiving - THANKS to the HEROES for GIVING!
- 11/25/09 07:42 AM
Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday, but it reminds me not only of family and friends but of the heroes that will be working on Thanksgiving. The ones protecting our neighborhoods, our healing our families and our serving our country. As you sit around the table ready to pray for the blessings you have - remember those who "have not." But also remember those who are there ready to respond if tragedy finds your door. Durning the holidays, find a way to thanks a hero. For they will be there - ready to help you or your family. Give thanks for your community heroes.

armed forces: Veterans Day Handshake
- 11/05/09 06:08 AM
Honor America's veterans for their patriotism and willingness to serve our country Veterans Day comes and goes and few of us take the time to really reach out and say "Thank You." Few of us realize what they have gone through to protect our freedoms and our families. Many Vets won't even talk about the terrors of war and wouldn't claim to be a hero. But they are - all of them, past and current Military personnel. So on, November 11th, seek out a Veteran and shake their hand. Thank them for their service to our country. They'll feel good

armed forces: Fall Back Time - I don't think so...
- 10/29/09 06:11 AM
Fall is the time of year of harvest, stowing things away and hunkering down for the winter. The old phrase of "Fall back and Spring forward" is a reminder for our clocks and smoke detector batteries. But too many people take the phrase "fall back" in the fall too literally! Fall should be a time to spring into action and set a new course for the coming year. This is the best time to look at your business and make adjustments. What elements of marketing your business"worked" and "didn't work" during this last 10 months. January is just around the corner. armed forces: HOT TOPIC - National Fire Prevetion Week
- 10/07/09 08:04 AM
Keep our Fire Fighters in mind this week as we collectively remind ourselves how to keep our families and our homes safe from fires happening. There are many little things we can do so check out their website (www.nfpa.org) and apply the knowledge to your homes and your customers homes too. Also, take the time to stop buy your local fire department to thank them for their service to the community (a basket of cookies or fruit wouldn't hurt either). Remember, many of the smaller communities are "volunteer" Fire Departments - in 2007, 52% of the Fire Fighters that died in the

armed forces: 9/11 Anniversary Salute to Fallen Heroes
- 09/08/09 10:47 AM
This Friday will mark another anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy. As when JFK was shot, or any other fateful day in history, we will look back and remember how we were affected on that day and the days that followed. The image that sticks in my mind was the dust coated civilians running away as the Emergency Workers, Fire Fighters and Police ran toward the chaos. Some of them never to return alive. And later the brave troops that defended our country then and now. Homes for Heroes program was created right after 9/11 by a group of Realtors as a

armed forces: Helping Heroes will build your business
- 08/12/09 07:21 AM
Homes For Heroes was created by a group of Realtors after 9/11 as a way to give back to the Military, Police and Fire Fighters in the community for risking their lives to protect our country and communities. After a report on the CBS Early Show, heroes from across the country started contacting the Minnesota group. Now Homes For Heroes has a website and heroes in 46 states. The problem is we need realtors and lenders in those states to help these heroes. If you know of a civic/patriotic minded realtor or lender that would be interested in joining our program

armed forces: Helping Heroes is Good Business
- 07/17/09 04:43 AM
I'm sure many Real Estate professionals already find creative ways to give back to the community It's good for the community and good for business. Homes for Heroes has developed a Nationwide program to do just that - here's an example of who one of our Affliates helped while growing their busines. More examples are at www.homesforheroes.com The BlackwellsHomes for Heroes counseled us through the very frustrating process of buying a home during a period when most of the inventory for sale is short-sales and foreclosed properties. In the end, we found our dream home. Especially now with all the

armed forces: Our Hero Fire Fighters Hand Shake
- 07/10/09 03:45 AM
I was reading an article the other day and was surprised by this statistic - in 2007 118 Fire Fighter died in the line of duty in the USA. Of those 118 heroes 62 of them were volunteers. This is why we must pay tribute to these heroes in our communities. They are often overlooked. We stare at the expensive shinny trucks they use to put out the fires and save cats - but how often do we stop to realize that when it really counts - they put their lives on the line to save our properties and families. As

armed forces: Military Hero Handshake
- 07/01/09 05:08 AM
July 4th is just around the corner! They'll be lots of fun, food and fireworks. Enjoy the day. But keep in mind what we are celebrating. Our freedom and the nation we live in. On July 4th, 1776 we declared our independance and have held it ever since. But not without the great sacrifices of our military men and women. Our fallen heores deserve our praise and our current heroes deserve our respect. Take the opportunity this weekend to seek out a veteran or active duty member and shake their hand and say "Thank You" for all they've done and continue to do.

armed forces: Memorial Day memories
- 05/14/09 07:56 AM
As Memorial Day approaches - it reminds us of the incredible sacrifices our heroes have made for us. Service deserves it's rewards - but it seems like a lot of veterans have been passed by some how. Please take a minute in the coming weeks to reach out and say thanks to the veterans in your community. Especially our seniors. And for our modern day heroes - encourage these young folks for their selfless dedication to our country and help them where you can. We owe them our respect and resources.
