marketing: Fall Back Time - I don't think so... - 10/29/09 06:11 AM
Fall is the time of year of harvest, stowing things away and hunkering down for the winter.  The old phrase of "Fall back and Spring forward" is a reminder for our clocks and smoke detector batteries.  But too many people take the phrase "fall back" in the fall too literally!
Fall should be a time to spring into action and set a new course for the coming year.  This is the best time to look at your business and make adjustments.  What elements of marketing your business"worked" and "didn't work" during this last 10 months.  January is just around the corner.  The proverbial … (4 comments)

Very proud to announce our newest Affiliate in Illinois.  Ralph Vargo is the first Realtor in the state and we look forward to being able to help more heroes there now!
Ralph Vargo
Like the owners of Home for Heroes and millions of others I too was horrified at 911 and the unnnecessary loss of life especially the firefighters and police officers just trying to do there jobs under one of the worst disasters in our nation`s history. Myself like so many others asked " What can I do to help?". Well, over the years I feel I made small contributions to the heroes … (5 comments)

marketing: Helping Heroes will build your business - 08/12/09 07:21 AM
Homes For Heroes was created by a group of Realtors after 9/11 as a way to give back to the Military, Police and Fire Fighters in the community for risking their lives to protect our country and communities.  After a report on the CBS Early Show, heroes from across the country started contacting the Minnesota group.  Now Homes For Heroes has a website and heroes in 46 states.  The problem is we need realtors and lenders in those states to help these heroes.  If you know of a civic/patriotic minded realtor or lender that would be interested in joining our program … (0 comments)

marketing: People who comment on my blog - but are just advertising their own buiness - 07/23/09 02:36 AM
This seems odd to me.  I write a blog about helping heroes in the community and I got a blog comment that is advertising something to do with shoes.  What's up with that?  Shoes?  How do these people even get on this site.  Isn't there a shoe blogging zone somewhere else out there in cyber space? Maybe they thought ActiveRain meant a good place to advertise rubber boots.

marketing: Helping Heroes is Good Business - 07/17/09 04:43 AM
I'm sure many Real Estate professionals already find creative ways to give back to the community  It's good for the community and good for business.  Homes for Heroes has developed a Nationwide program to do just that - here's an example of who one of our Affliates helped while growing their busines.  More examples are at www.homesforheroes.com
The BlackwellsHomes for Heroes counseled us through the very frustrating process of buying a home during a period when most of the inventory for sale is short-sales and foreclosed properties. In the end, we found our dream home. Especially now with all the … (0 comments)

marketing: Our Hero Fire Fighters Hand Shake - 07/10/09 03:45 AM
I was reading an article the other day and was surprised by this statistic - in 2007 118 Fire Fighter died in the line of duty in the USA.  Of those 118 heroes 62 of them were volunteers.  This is why we must pay tribute to these heroes in our communities.  They are often overlooked.  We stare at the expensive shinny trucks they use to put out the fires and save cats - but how often do we stop to realize that when it really counts - they put their lives on the line to save our properties and families.

marketing: Homes For Heroes Affiliate Program - 06/14/09 04:01 AM
Recently a Realtor posted a blog regarding her interpretation of our Homes For Heroes marketing program.  And everyone is entitled to there views.  This Realtor must already have a program in place to give back to the community that works.  Some Realtors are looking for a way to give back and differentiate their company from the many others in their community.
I encourage everyone do what they can to give back to those how give so much to our communities and country.  If a Realtor or Lender is looking for an established and successful program for giving back to the community … (2 comments)

marketing: Imitation is the best form of flattery, until.......... - 06/04/09 02:48 AM

Until your good name is besmirched. Homes for Heroes in the past has taken people leveraging our brand as flattery. We often ask if they would like to continue to use our good name by joining forces with us, and if they do not want to we are okay with that decision also. But recently something came up that does need to be addressed. We will let the Morris Daily Herald explain it.
Illinois allegation hurts ‘real' Heroes

marketing: Starting Line - 04/24/09 01:40 AM
Well I guess we've all been there in some form - I feel like I'm at the Starting Line of the big race.  I've gotten introduced to all the key people, have read all the literature and and got my laptop working (kinda).
This race has no finish line though.  Success is like breathing. A big breath of fresh air is wonderful - you always want more.  But you have to let it go to get another.  So I'm breathing deeply and taking it all in because Homes for Heroes is such a great cause and business idea.
I'd welcome thoughts, … (0 comments)
