I like to keep it simple so that's pretty much the list of my new year resolutions. I don't think it takes much to be happy.

Did you watch "It's a Wonderful Life" again this Christmas? Remember the the part of the movie when George Bailey is talking with the old angel Clarence? And Clarence reminds him "Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?"

Another year almost behind us. We made it! Some triumphant, carrying high flags and badges of cunning victories, great listings snagged on the battlefields, plentiful bounties, artful alliances and masterful diplomacy moves against the enemy. This morning I recieved an email from an agent. He wanted to buy the Success PLUS but said: "I absolutely can not afford to spend that much money!."
Here is what I wrote back:
I know, I hear it alot: "Money is tight. Business is tough. I cannot afford stuff."

I know, this business sometimes sucks. It’s not complicated, BUT it's not EASY, either. Piles of stress, difficult transactions, overpriced listings, grueling hours, unrealistic sellers, dead deals... I was sixteen, maybe seventeen, when it happened. My friends and I were riding on our favorite trail by the riverbank. Six big, beautiful horses, happy and eager to fly forward, loving the freedom. The air was full of summer; nothing but blue sky, majestic trees bathing their branches in the slow stream of the river, sun overhead, and the world zipping by us in exhilaration.

If it wasn't documented by cameras and the media, nobody would have believed that it was possible:
A man was handcuffed, shackled, and thrown into a cold water of Long Beach harbor, where he was quickly fastened to a cable. The cable was then attached to to 70 (seventy!) boats, bobbing up and down in the harbor, each carrying a person. Swimming against a strong wind and waves, the man then swam, towing all 70 boats and passengers behind him for over a mile.

Yes, I know. We've heard it SOOO many times before. Focus on the positive. Believe in yourself. Have a good attitude. Start your day with "I can do anything today" affirmation. Sounds pretty simple, doesn't it? We know it works. And yet, we don't do it.
Well, the Universe has been sending me nice and very clear reminders lately. Like this short video.

He was one of the greatest coaches and thinkers of our time. Known for his no-nonsense practical and useful advice. I was a young real estate green horn when I first had a chance to go to his seminar. And it changed my life. It takes money to make money. Duh. But How do you make money when there is no money to start with?I was broke. In debt. No capital, no cash... The only leverage I had was my time and my work (this is why millions of people keep wearing the handcuffs of hourly wages.)When I was 24, my life was going for about $11 an hour. It's so easy sometimes. Go for a quick buck - consequences be damned. Why not cut a corner here and there? Who needs to climb the tree if the fruit is so nice and low. Just jump the fence. Easy. Almost right. Especially when times are tough. And the sweet reward is sitting right in front me... I can explain and justify. But still. Deep inside I will always know what's right and what's wrong. Well, playing by the rules (at times) has it's beautiful sweet rewards. Not easy. But often worth it. Check it out... :)

If you've ever been on a subway in Paris - especially in winter - it's not much fun. It's late afternoon, people rushing from work. Jammed, tired, cold, ready to get home. French. ;)
Sparkless eyes looking wearily out of the subway train window as the bustling world blurs by.
Then, out of nowhere, a voice. Single brilliant voice cascades over the train noise. Like a silky cello, the first notes of Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight" float through the noisy subway car with passion and resonance. Not many pay attention at first.
