yellowstone national park Wyoming/Montana/Idaho Why you've got to go: It's America's very first national park and has the highest concentration of geysers in the world! What to do: See Old Faithful, which shoots steam sky-high every 90 minutes, and then move on to the other geysers, stinky mud pots and multi-colored hot springs within walking distance (check out the flower-shaped Morning Glory Pool). Yellowstone is also a great place to spot wildlife: Bison, elk, bears, wolves and Bighorn Sheep all hang out here. We all remember the fun facts like “If the earth were a gumball, 1 million Earths could fit inside of it.” These are the mental images that capture the minds of young astronomers. The Museum of the Rockies put on a special showcase of the stars this weekend as a part of their Astronomy Day. If you missed it and are interested in things outside of out atmosphere, the Taylor Planetarium always offers an immersive look at the Montana night sky. FIND OUT MORE HERE (2 comments)
localism: Comic-Con Bozeman Style
- 04/16/12 12:18 AM
Comic-Con is an event that traditionally takes place in San Diego which promotes the newest cutting edge displays of technology as well as paying homage to the classics of comic book legends. This year, Chantell Bury, director of films for the Associated Students of Montana State University, has brought a spinoff of that tradition here to the Procrastinator. Costumes are highly encouraged, the original Tim Burton Batman will be showing, and artists Stephen Downer and Chris Turbuck will be featured in an art show. localism: Bozeman Weather: Keeping Us All On Our Toes
- 03/20/12 07:56 AM
A snowstorm came in this past Sunday night dropping a heavy blanket of snow over what had been a nice and bright sixty degree spring day 24 hours prior. The dramatic shift in weather resulted in avalanche warnings, car wrecks, and a new surface for ski resorts. A winter weather warning left 6-10” of fresh snow on the streets of Bozeman. READ MORE

Who knew that tucked away just outside of view from the freeway as a driver makes their way to the more populated Bozeman or Billings is the little town of Manhattan? With a population of 1,300, Manhattan is framed with picturesque panoramic of the Horseshoe Hills and the Bridger Range. The old west town is supported on industries including potatoes, dairy, wheat, and cattle. Because of its food, arts, and outdoor recreation scene, the town of Manhattan is authentically rustic as fewer and fewer cities here and Montana can claim to be. localism: Bozeman Rugby Taking Off With First Home Game
- 03/01/12 10:53 PM
LOCAL EVENT HIGHLIGHTED: This weekend marks the début of MSU’s Badgers, the Division II rugby team here in Bozeman, MT. Rugby, a game that is oftentimes viewed as a hybrid of soccer and football, is really neither of the above. It is a game which uses a large oblong ball that can be run forward or passed backward. There are no play breaks in the solid 40 minute halves for the only pauses are when scrums, intense collisions of men in a organized and powerful shockwave, form around a tackled ball. The differences between rugby and all other sports only (1 comments)

According to the American Heart Association, 70% of people feel helpless in the event of a cardiac emergency. It is at home where 80% of cardiac arrests occur. These events oftentimes have no warning signs and can happen to anyone. The danger is real.
To confront these very real statistics, four saved lives here in the Gallatin Valley have joined forces to initiate the Gallatin Heart Rescue Project. A partnership between Bozeman Deaconess Cardiovascular Training Center, Absarokee Emergency Physicians, and all Gallatin County law enforcement/fire agencies has brought together the community in (0 comments)

Bozeman gets to boast one more accolade. As dubbed by National Geographic, Bozeman Montana is one of the top 25 Ski Towns in the WORLD! “Just what makes a classic ski town? It starts, naturally, with skiing and snowboarding so good they attract people like youth-bestowing fountains. Then add an inviting mountain burg steeped in ski heritage, amenities, and culture.
