Recently, the great county of Gallatin has re-circulated a fantastic document entitled 'Code Of The New West'. This document was originally written in 2002, when the population in Bozeman was only about 30,000, the average cost of building a single-family home was a mere $127,000, and the local crime rate was higher than national average. (source) Bozeman was a different town than it is today. Something had just started happening, however. People from across the country (world, really) were starting to take notice of our little slice of paradise and (gasp) MOVING HERE. (yes, here in Bozeman, MT the landlocked state...)
These past few months have brought great turbulence the Bozeman’s local grocery store scene. Safeway built an entirely new store and in stride with the competition, Smith’s got a facelift. Both stores are now stunning and add a whole new level of class to the errand of grocery shopping.
Smith’s specifically has been great even through the reconstruction time. I avidly visit their store in order to keep my fridge full. High sales and what I can only imagine to be many late night hours for their workers allowed the process to … (3 comments)

Bozeman Honors Fallen Veterans
Veterans here find that Bozeman makes them feel warm and welcome, both at the university and in the community. On Friday, volunteers will gather at MSU to read the 6200 names of the troops that have died in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq since 2001. Names will be read from 9 am until 5pm with a moment of silence observed at noon and will be streaming on Montana State Universities’ website. If you would like to participate by reading for 15 minutes, call994-6902 to volunteer.

It’s a Montana habit.
Out of my four closest male friends, three chew. Out the fire crew I worked on, everyone, with the exception of myself, had a dip in regularly. Snuff. This is not an issue limited to MT.

We are a small town. I moved here from the hustle and bustle of Bozeman (yes, I do think 100,000 folks is a big city) to find a little more relaxed environment, but I did not move here to let the weeds grow between my toes!
