manhattan: The Georgica--An Upper East Side Luxury Condominium That Combines Tranquility with Modern Design - 08/23/11 01:16 AM
The Georgica, located on 305 East 85th Street, takes its name from an East Hampton lake, Georgica Pond.

Located on a tree-lined street in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, its glassed design is meant to inspire the “shimmering” effect of its namesake with “sublime composition.”  The building blends bronze, champagne and white to create a modern exterior and interior.

With only 58 residences and two to four apartments per floor, it offers space, privacy, contemporary design and outstanding amenities -- the ultimate Upper East Side property.

manhattan: Modern Luxury Condos in Noho - 08/10/11 12:56 AM
40 Bond in Noho

Right in the thick of things in Noho, on a cobble-stoned street sits 40 Bond.  These ultra-modern luxury condos and townhomes take the “wow factor,” in luxury living and amenities, to a whole new level.

Ian Schrager, the developer, who has also developed modern hotels and nightclubs (Studio 54 and the Palladium) brings his concept of “effortless luxury living” to Noho, an area of Manhattan filled with stunning architectural history.  Schrager wanted to reinvent loft living in a neighborhood that invented loft living.  40 Bond goes beyond those parameters with phenomenal design.  Designed … (4 comments)

manhattan: Why I Love New York! - 08/04/11 09:03 AM
In case you didn’t see this on the national news, here’s a construction worker that provides annoyed Manhattanites some respite from the ongoing 2nd Avenue subway construction noise.  Gary Russo from Queens croons some Frank Sinatra to passers-by and his singing is soothing some rattled nerves.  (NBC reported a bit of dancing in the streets and quoted, “Only in New York).”

Enjoy!

manhattan: Sherry Netherland--Premium Manhattan Properties - 08/02/11 10:14 AM
“More Than a Place to Live...A Way of Life”

That was how the developers, Louis Sherry, an affluent ice cream magnate and Lucius Boomer, owner of the Boston Lenox Hotel and manager of the Waldorf-Astoria, advertised the Sherry Netherland when they opened the luxury hotel in 1927.  At that time it was the world’s tallest apartment hotel.

That sentiment still perfectly captures what this five-star hotel/residential building is today.  Known then and now as one of Manhattan’s most prestigious addresses, its location on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 59th Street is a grand and integral of … (0 comments)

manhattan: Murray Hill--A Small Midtown East Manhattan Neighborhood - 07/01/11 05:07 AM
Murray Hill is a small neighborhood, quiet and elegant, with condos, co-ops, town homes and brownstones.  Its unofficial borders are between Fifth Avenue and Franklin D. Roosevelt Drive and 34th and 40th Streets.

Unlike some of its more active midtown neighbors, Murray Hill is slower-paced and attracts those who want close access to busy Midtown but prefer to live on quieter streets.  Residents have to venture out for large-scale shopping and entertainment, but those who live there choose the area for just that reason.

The busy Flatiron District is a short cab ride away and it’s close to … (0 comments)

manhattan: Luxury Condos on the Upper East Side - 06/23/11 02:40 AM
The Lucida--New York’s First LEED Certified Luxury Condos on Manhattan’s Upper East Side
On 151 East 85th Street, an 18-story Manhattan luxury condo building stands out as a sleek, glassed environmentally-friendly group of sale and rental condominiums.

Opened in 2009, these luxury condos are the Upper East Side’s introduction to “smarter living.”  Developed by Extell and designed by architects Cook + Fox, residents are in for a manhattan luxury lifestyle with the added benefits of green living.  S. Russell Groves designed the Lucida’s interiors, using sustainable and renewable materials, whenever possible.

manhattan: The Largest Fitness Competition Coming to the Largest City - 06/20/11 02:24 AM
The Ironman Triathlon Versus Manhattan--2012

In case you didn’t hear the news, our fair city is going to be host to the Ironman Triathlon in August of next year.

For those of you who are fitness fanatics (or morning and weekend fitness types, as I practice on a pretty regular basis), the time to begin planning is now.

According to Dara E. Wittenberg, a USA Triathlon Level II Certified Coach, you’re going to have to dedicate 13-20 plus hours a week (whew!) to prepare for this and ideally, you should have a few triathlons under your belt … (0 comments)

manhattan: HELL’S KITCHEN/CLINTON - 06/07/11 02:49 AM
A MANHATTAN MIDTOWN WEST NEIGHBORHOOD NEAR THE BIG APPLE’S THEATER DISTRICT

Hell’s Kitchen is also known as Clinton, but most New Yorkers use the former when talking about this section of the city. The name relates to its past, as so many neighborhoods in Manhattan, it carries a bit of interesting flavor before its gentrification.

Its rough boundaries are Eighth Avenue to the Hudson River and 59th Street to 42nd Street.
No one really knows how Hell’s Kitchen acquired its name. According to an article in the New York Times, the name may have come from an Irish gang … (2 comments)

manhattan: New York City Apartment Homes in the Financial District, New York City - 06/06/11 04:39 AM
FIVE NINE JOHN LOFTS AT 59 JOHN STREET

Convenience galore in the Financial District!

Five Nine John Lofts are 73 beautifully-renovated one, two and three-bedroom New York City apartment homes in Lower Manhattan’s Financial District. The pre-war residential complex was built in the early 1900s and was once an office building.

In 2006, with the help of designer Andres Escobar and architect Karl Fisher, Five Nine John Lofts was transformed to modern and sophisticated New York City apartments and condos for busy professionals and families who want to be in the heart of the Financial District.

manhattan: OVERCOMING CHALLENGES – TURNING A “NEGATIVE” INTO A POSITIVE - 05/23/11 02:35 AM

At one time or another, all of us are faced with a situation that may, upon initial inspection, seem a bit daunting.

As brokers, we face those situations on a fairly regular basis!

Whether it’s a sure thing at the last minute falling through, a property or development not being completed when we thought or just the day-to-day stressors that present themselves when dealing with the complexities of real estate.

In my humble opinion, there’s no place in the world like New York City and that goes for New York real estate as well.

There’s an … (4 comments)

manhattan: New York City Getting Bigger--Will it Become the Number One Digital City? - 05/20/11 04:28 AM
The New York Times reported recently that Mayor Bloomberg plans to make New York City the “No. 1 Digital City.”

Now, I’m not saying that we’re leading the pack here as far as technology goes or that Mayor Bloomberg took a cue from us, but we’re already using the latest and greatest at Keller Williams New York City.  A recent article from the New York Times stated that Bloomberg plans to make Manhattan the Number One Digital City, employing all kinds of technology to do so.
We’re already using these tactics, so I’m just saying...

manhattan: MANHATTAN REAL ESTATE: MIDTOWN WEST - 04/05/11 01:35 AM

MEMORABLE MIDTOWN MANHATTAN PROPERTIES AMONG THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF NEW YORK CITY
Midtown West is an exciting, fast paced section of New York City. It’s the place where there’s always something going on–from sunup to sundown.

From 34th Street to 57th and Fifth Avenue to the Hudson River, Midtown is where tourists throng, commuters come in and Manhattanites mingle. When one dreams of the bright lights of New York City, this is it.

Midtown West encompasses some of the most recognizable Big Apple attractions: Rockefeller Center displays its massive Christmas tree, the New Year’s ball drop, the … (0 comments)

manhattan: Chelsea--A Blend of Manhattan Brownstones, Condos, and Co-ops with a Village Vibe - 03/25/11 02:33 AM
Chelsea is on Manhattan’s West Side and its boundaries are from 14th to 29th Streets and from Broadway to the Hudson River.  Chelsea is within walking distance to several other New York iconic spots--the Meatpacking and Flatiron Districts and Union Square.
The late 1980s brought about a influx of artsy interest when the Dia Arts Foundation set up a facility on West 22nd Street and unattractive warehouses were converted into art galleries galore.  There’s several galleries between 10th and 11th Avenues, from 22nd to 26th Streets and the vibe remains the same--trendy, hip and cool like its nearby West Village and … (0 comments)
