Shining a spotlight on my own professional shortcomings is, at first, about as pleasant as a lengthy dental appointment. It's like my old high school job of checking groceries, where every January the store manager would sit me down for a performance review. I'd go in all nervous, certain I would be turning in my badge for some unknown offense. "You're doin' good, Pounds. One of the advantages of working with my company is the close relationship we have with a lender, AmCap Mortgage. In fact, we couldn't be closer --- we office together. I've observed that working alongside loan officers, processors and underwriters has made me a better agent. When we began to work together in 2008, underwriting guidelines were changing literally from day to day. Being able to consult with the in-house underwriter directly has been invaluable since then.
