The Duxbury Public Schools' new co-located middle school and high school project is about 1/3 of the way through its timeline for completion. The field house should be completed this summer.
In 2011, Duxbury voters approved the design and construction of a new co-located middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12). The new building will be erected behind the current middle school, and replaces the current high school (built in 1968) and middle school (built in 1960) in one efficient 21st century facility. plymouth county: The buyers' market in Plymouth County Real Estate continues - 03/19/13 10:25 PM
The buyers' market in Plymouth County Real Estate continues
While some major market cities are experiencing strong sellers' markets, the buyers' market in Plymouth County real estate continues unabated. The number of sales and the sales prices have been flat. Interest rates and the number of homes on the market are both low. Those are statistics that favor buyers.
Sellers can take solace in the fact that sales prices have averaged 95-96% of listing prices all year. Sellers are asking more for their homes, as reflected in a rising average listing price, but that, together with a low number of homes … (0 comments)

A committee comprised of members of both the Plymouth and Duxbury churches studied the possibility of rejoining into one central church and town; two sites were suggested, one in Duxbury and one in the current town of Kingston at the Jones River, but no decision … (7 comments)

plymouth county: Low loan rates give you the purchasing power to buy your dream home - 03/09/13 05:50 AM
Low loan rates give you the purchasing power to buy your dream home. Everyone knows that mortgage interest rates are very low right now. Lots of people realize that this puts a lot of buying power in their hands, and can help them afford to buy their dream home. What most people seem to be missing is just how incredible the opportunity is right now.

I've written about the pros and cons involved in a decision to rent or buy a home at Should You Rent or Buy a Home? In that article, I talk about how there are both personal concerns and preferences and purely financial, mathematical issues.
To my way of thinking, working out the numbers is both the easy part and the part that you should do first so that you have a baseline to work from while you are making the more personal, quality-of-life types of decisions.
On my website, there's a link to a comprehensive "Should I Rent or Buy a Home" … (1 comments)

plymouth county: Should you rent or buy a home? - 03/07/13 04:27 AM
There are pros and cons to buying and owning your home. There are also pros and cons to renting a home! When people ask, "Should I rent or buy a home?", they are really asking either a complicated question about all the personal factors that influence that choice, or a narrower, somewhat simpler question: "Is it LESS EXPENSIVE to rent or buy a home?"
"Well, all else being equal . . . "
The thing is, everything else isn't ever equal. Your personal situation, your goals and desires, your interests, are different for you than for other people. Not to mention … (0 comments)
