news: The Avimor develompent overlooking Boise and Eagle is up for grabs - 04/10/09 08:52 AM
It looks as if Avimor the large planned community north west of Boise off Highway 55 is up for sale.  The developer SunCor has included it in the majority sale of their assets in a plan to downsize the company.
The Avimor development is a 23,000 -acre property being developed to encompass 650-homes with planned shops, offices, dining, and recreation.  Ada County approved the development in 2006.  So far about 20 homes exist.
It is hoped that any potential buyer will continue with the planned development.

news: New World Trader Tower will no longer carry "Freedom" in its name. - 03/28/09 02:40 AM
"Freedom Tower" will no longer be the monkier for the New World Trade tower.  It appears it might be easier to market the site under a different name.  I think it's unfortuante because of what that tower was supposed to stand for.  Maybe in this case the highest and best use for the new tower is not for generating money from commercial leases.  It's supposed to be a solemn place and it is possible that business as usual shouldn't replace what happened there.

news: Otter is finally going to forgo the stipend! - 03/12/09 03:54 PM
Looks like Governor Otter will finally stop taking the stipend in April. Renovations on the Simplot mansion will be complete but he still has no plans to reside there. I blogged this awhile back: "Why are we paying for and empty mansion" and it has since received national and local media attention. He has apparently taken a recent $500.00 dollar reduction to reflect the hard times and budget constraints. Too bad it still more than most Idahoans make in a month. Whatever helps you to sleep at night I guess.

news: Maybe The Banks Won't Be Bailed Out Afterall - 11/12/08 03:22 AM
According to the following story on yahoo: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/financial_meltdown the government has decided that using the $700 billion bail out package to buy up troubled financial institutions is not the best way to go.
Whether or not you agreed with the bail out package in the first place it's nice to see they're giving some thought to how to spend the money.  I think it's a step in the right direction.  I've always been a fan of "think before you act" strategy.
While the housing market definitely need stabilization, which is more important, stabilization or trying to head off the consumer credit … (1 comments)

A housing market slowdown creates all kinds of desperation.  Builders and Developers are being squeezed and moving inventory has become critical to survival.  Residents are desperate to hold on to equity are doing everything they can to make certain that builders and developers aren't doing more damage than good.
Have they pushed too far?  Well for a few named residents in the Saddlebrook subdivision in Star it looks like it will be up to the courts to decide.  Sawtooth Custom Homes has filed suit alleging that disparaging remarks made by residents on websites have damaged his company.
