real estate: Realtors Can Give Legal Advice - 09/04/16 03:27 PM

The Brian Worrell Team of Realtors is fortunate enough to have an attorney-agent who works on our real estate team. She has a degree from Harvard Law School and has a real estate license.  Therefore, my team can give legal advice.  And she has given free legal advice to many of my clients in the League City / Clear Lake City area over the years and given them peace of mind regarding many concerns.
The law in most (if not all) states prohibits agents from giving legal advice, but I know many agents (myself included) are often tempted to answer our clients' legal questions....whether … (0 comments)

real estate: Eminent Domain - Baybrook Mall Area - 08/25/16 11:40 PM
For as long I have lived in the League City area, the major entrances and exits on the freeway have been cloverleaf type intersections (Both Exits for Baybrook Mall Expansion -- Bay Area Boulevard and El Dorado).  I'm sure when the intersections were built, the state used its power of eminent domain to acquire the massive amount of land needed for that type of intersection.  Recently, the entire cloverleaf was torn down in favor of a standard overpass intersection, leaving a large area of very valuable real estate property now unused by the state that could be converted into prime retail.
Is … (0 comments)

real estate: BIG Retailers coming to League City Area - 08/16/16 04:56 AM
League City residents know that the traffic on 45 can be ridiculous, sometimes for no identifiable reason at odd times of day, but I experienced a new first with Clear Lake Area traffic last week. Real estate was literally stopping traffic. I was traveling north on 45 near Baybrook Mall, and there was an extreme slow down just north of the mall. There was no accident or stalled vehicle, but when I passed the mall, I realized that traffic was slowing down because the real estate developers of the most recent shopping center had installed a sign announcing the businesses that … (0 comments)

real estate: Westover Park in League City, TX has Fire Hydrants Drained - 03/12/12 10:55 AM

Recently the City of League City and League City Volunteer Fire Department were draining the fire hydrants in Westover Park. The Worrell Team Realtors were preparing to meet with a client for a residential real estate listing in Westover Park, the gushing water in the streets got the Worrell Team thinking, why exactly do they drain fire hydrants? Why would they drain them when League City has been under many levels of water restrictions over the past year?

Fire hydrants are typically drained twice a year for testing and maintenance and it is vital to insure a well functioning … (0 comments)

real estate: How To Communicate In America: - Scheduling Appointments - 08/27/11 05:58 PM
How To Communicate In America: - Scheduling Appointments I realize there may be cultural differences or regional difference...  I realize some people may be used to doing things a certain way.  We value our privacy here in America, and definitely in League City, Friendswood, Clear Lake, and Houston. And when it comes to real estate, we are already having that privacy invaded constantly, so please:
Don’t show up unannounced. The only person expected to show up unannounced is Dawg the Bounty Hunter. Get confirmation for appointments ahead of time. You do not have an appointment scheduled if all parties have not … (2 comments)

real estate: Casualty Loss - Whose house is it anyways? - 08/25/11 04:24 PM
Even though I had a closing yesterday for a home in League City, I couldn't sleep last night.  You see, I was worried the house I just sold would get burned down, knocked down by an earthquake, vandalized, or any other type of casualty loss..  You may be asking why should I care...it's not my house, but...
...this closing had a little bit of a wrinkle (elephants have wrinkles too ;-). Both parties signed their paperwork and left the title company before the deal funded.  Obviously, this isn't atypical, but usually when that happens, I keep the keys, and then hand … (4 comments)

real estate: Jury Duty - This will not help the housing market - 05/16/10 06:02 PM
Will the judge care?  If I'm in Jury Duty tomorrow, I can't sell homes tomorrow.  This could cause the collapse of an already fragile market.  If I convince the judge I'm serious (which I'm not) -- do you think I can get out of being sucked into a long trial??

real estate: Realtor Movies - 04/06/10 05:07 PM
Does anyone know of any interesting, funny, classic movies about real estate or Realtors?  I'm in my Netflix account and looking for some funny movies about what Realtors do on a daily basis...
The only one that comes to my mind right now is - The Money Pit - with Tom Hanks.  I'm sure there are some really good ones.  Let me know what your favorites are!
