realtor: Should we get an inspection? - 09/15/09 04:21 PM
We Highly Recommend an Inspection Let's talk about the next step once we have a fully executed contract signed by all parties.
Depending on the type of financing you choose, there should be either 2 or 3 separate inspections on the home you want to purchase. The first should be your own personal inspection, and the second should be a professional inspector that is licensed in the State of Texas. Should you select a government loan [FHA or VA], the third inspection should come at the time of the appraisal, which to some degree amounts to a "mini-inspection". Do not, however, … (1 comments)

realtor: Mar Bella - Hot On Homes! - 09/10/09 05:36 AM
Well, I was just a featured agent on Hot On Homes for Taylor Morrison and the Mar Bella community in League City, TX.  Hot On Homes is a local real estate program on Channel 2 (NBC) on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  I can't explain why, but it can be very intimidating to be interviewed on camera.  I made it through the interview, and luckily, they did enough video editing to get my segment down to about 5 seconds!
Here's a little bit about Mar Bella -
One of the first things you'll notice when you enter Mar Bella is that it … (0 comments)

realtor: Finally, we got some rain! - 06/30/09 09:56 AM
We finally got some rain in League City, Texas... but, it only lasted 5 minutes.  I'm guessing that means people will be at it again with sprinklers by tomorrow evening.  Does anyone around here know how to do a rain dance?  NOT A FLOOD DANCE.... just a little rain.
I figured people on Active Rain have to know something about Rainmaking??

realtor: That sneaky agent is trying to steal listings - IN DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE NAR CODE OF ETHICS!!! - 03/16/09 08:34 AM
THIS IS INFURIATING. AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT!!!Is it ever right to try and steal business from another agent? It seems that this is one of the few industries where this type of competition is not allowed. Once the listing is secured, nobody can legally solicit my sellers!!!
Below is an example of a solicitation that an agent in my area sent out specifically to the seller of a home that was already on the market. If you take the time to re-read the National Association Code of Ethics, in Article 16 you will find that is says:

realtor: A Movie all Realtors Should See - 02/23/09 07:07 AM
A Movie all Realtors Should See
Two nights ago (before the movie won tons of Oscars), I went to see Slumdog Millionaire, a movie that on its face has absolutely nothing to with real estate. However, the movie did help me to refocus on reality. With all the talk of meltdown in the mortgage market, skyrocketing foreclosures, tanking financial markets, and on and on, it is difficult to remember that even in these troubled times (as everyone likes to call them), we are still so fortunate to have the widespread provision of adequate housing in our country. Mind you, adequate does … (4 comments)

realtor: Off With Their Heads - 02/23/09 04:54 AM
Off With Their Heads
I'm assuming that selling homes in League City, Texas is very similar to other parts of the country- at least with regards to the way Realtors market themselves.
For whatever reason, it is normal within the real estate profession (unlike most others) for professionals to use their own picture in marketing materials. Most states regulate the content of real estate marketing, and I think it is about time for the powers that be to regulate the personal photographs that are included in marketing. They should be held to the same standards as the rest of the content. … (4 comments)
