On Nov. 27, the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Opportunity Index (HOI), released its third quarter 2007 findings naming Indianapolis the most affordable major market for the ninth consecutive time. Meanwhile, nationwide housing affordability rose on a year-over-year basis but was down slightly for the quarter due to higher mortgage rates. According to the index, 87.5 percent of homes sold in Indianapolis in the third quarter were affordable to families earning the area's median household income of $63,800. indianapolis: Purdue Plans West Indy research park

The Purdue Research Foundation announced plans Thursday for Purdue Accelerator Park at AmeriPlex- Indianapolis at the site where it will be built, near Indianapolis International Airport. The park is for up to 75 high-tech businesses that will pay employees an average annual salary of $54,000. Purdue's newest technology park will create 1,500 jobs in the state and broaden opportunities for students. The park will be a collaboration between the Purdue Research Foundation and Holladay Properties, a South Bend-based national real estate development company.
