Christmas is a time for giving. Instead of spending mega bucks on material things that eventually will be pushed to the back of a closet and forgotten, rather than enjoyed, why not give by spending time with others.
Time is the most precious gift anyone can give.
As all of you know, horses are my passion. Not only do I aim to spend more time with my horse, but also with friends and relatives.
Instead of spending your hard earned money (and for some of us, finances are tight) on something that will be forgotten, (12 comments)
All of you horse crazy people out there, (or those of you that just enjoy watching horses), this video is for you!
Enjoy all the wonderful scenes of horses and listen to different Christmas music, not your typical Christmas song. It is a change from your typical Christmas music.
So, grab yourself a cup of hot chocolate, sit back and enjoy a few minutes of soothing Christmas music along with the horses.
The pre-Christmas hustle and bustle of shopping, baking, attending events and parties have you stressed and frustrated? Even though eliminating these during this time of year may not be practical, why not try simplifying the holiday?
Start out by deciding what is important. List all of the activities and events you are offered during the holidays. Include both personal and professional activities. Then think about what Christmas really means and put a star next to any activity that is in keeping with the true spirit of love, wonder, and awe. Decline the rest.
Here it is! Christmas Eve Day once again and almost the end of another year. Where did the time go? It feels like yesterday that I was out horseback riding in the nice, warm weather enjoying the greenery. No matter.
Here is wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza, etc. No matter what the name of the Holiday, celebrate it with your family and friends.
We are celebrating the birth of God's son Jesus. Without His birth, there would be no Christmas.
Let's remember to keep Christ in Christmas and celebrate it with (14 comments)
This Christmas, instead of purchasing gifts, give something more meaningful. . . . . the gift of love. I can't think of anything better than love.
Christmas can be a sad time of year for those who are alone. Gifts of love can be given such as baking Christmas cookies, sending a card with a personal note, or offering to share a Christmas meal.
Many people this year are struggling financially. Call your local church and find out how you can help someone who is worse off. This is a great gift of love.
Christmas tends to be very busy for many. The shopping, extra spending, and the many holiday activities makes this the most stressful time of year for many. Why not learn from the first Christmas how to truly celebrate the birth of Jesus?
Start by surrounding yourself with family. Jesus spent that first night in the company of his parents. The gifts: love and attention. Why not celebrate this Christmas with family and invite others who would otherwise celebrate alone.
Share the joy with song. There are many Christmas hymns and carols to sing. Renew the tradition of caroling in (12 comments)
Have you ever wondered about the origins of some of the Christmas Carols we sing? Some of the most popular date back 200 years or more.
Did you know that . . . .
Silent Night was written by Austrian priest Joseph Mohr in 1816 as a poem? It came in handy 2 years later when his church organ broke. Father Mohr gave the poem to his friend Franz Xavier Gruber, who wrote the melody in time to be played on a guitar for Midnight Mass.

'Tis the Christmas season and you keep singing "Jingle Bells". You would love to experience a horse-drawn carriage ride, hear the clip clop of the horses hooves and see the Christmas lights without the confines of a car.
The Lehigh Valley offers several different horse-drawn carriage rides.
For the first-time this year, you can enjoy the Lights in the Parkway in Allentown on a horse-drawn carriage ride.
Or, how about carriage rides through the historic area of downtown Bethlehem. Enjoy the traditional white Christmas lights, the sound of carols and the sound of hoofbeats on Bethlehem's historic city streets. (12 comments)
Thanksgiving is over and many events are occurring to put us in the Christmas spirit. One of the most popular in the Lehigh Valley is Christkindlmarkt in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
What is Christkindlmarkt?
Christkindlmarkt is recognized as one of the top holiday markets in the world by Travel and Leisure Magazine. Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem showcases many, many exquisite handmade items by the nation's finest artisans, heart-warming sounds of live Christmas music, delicious food (mmmmmm), jolly old Saint Nick to greet the children and hear their wishes, and much, much more.
Christkindlmarkt is held outdoors inside 2 huge tents with heaters to (6 comments)
Once again, it is that time of year - Christmas trees, colorful lights and decorations everywhere, Christmas Carols, a Santa in every mall and the hustle and bustle of shoppers looking for that perfect gift for each and everyone on their list.
This year, I know of many that have had to tighten their belts and refrain from spending due to less income in their households. The Holiday season doesn't mean buy, buy, buy. We need to be a little more creative.
Now, think. What is the most memorable or precious gift any one can give? Think hard. Remember (2 comments)
Has anybody started a Christmas tradition that everyone looks forward to every year? I did!
About 20 years ago, (am I showing my age?) I found a recipe for "mouse cookies". These are almond cookies that look like mice. They have peanuts for ears, raisins for eyes and red shoelace licorice for tails.
Anyway, I decided to try making them. It sounded like a cute idea. I thought my kids would enjoy them. (At the time, they were about 5 - 7 years old.) They came out looking just like mice and everyone raved about them, including the adults. (13 comments)

It is the time of year, once again, where thoughts go to Christmas and Holiday shopping. One place that is great to go Holiday Shopping is Christkindlmarkt in historic Bethlehem, PA. It will start November 23, 2007 and run until December 31, 2007 and will be open 7 days a week for the first time this year. Not only does Christkindlmarkt offer many arts, crafts and assorted gift ideas, it offers many exciting attractions. You can see artists making ice carvings, glass blowers, and many other craftspeople at work. For the first time this year there will be a liquid fireworks display. (4 comments)
