Horse & Animal Abuse - Unfortunate, But True - We Can Help Recently, news reports came through with a story about local animal rescues removing emaciated horses and various other animals, such as pigs, goats, calves, dogs, etc. from an area farm. Many of these animals were in critical condition, some so weak that they were unable to stand on their own. Some of the horses were laying down in the trailers while being transported.

There are many horse rescues and adoption centers located throughout Pennsylvania and the whole United States. One such facility is called After The Races. They are located in Nottingham, Pennsylvania.
After the Races takes retired Thoroughbred race horses from Philadelphia Park. Before coming to the facility, each horse is vetted and evaluated. Then a rehabilitation plan is put in place that fits each individual horse. During rehabilitation, time is spent getting to know the horse, it's temperament and it's physical capabilites. This allows them to match the horses to the right individuals.
For the past few months I have been searching for another horse. I have focused my search on adopting a horse instead of purchasing. Why? There are so many good horses out there that are in need of another job, a loving home and a human to call their own. Won't you please consider either adopting one or supporting the rescues by volunteering or donating. It is a worthy cause.

I spoke with Bill last night as I was concerned she was not being fed or watered properly. He informed me she had been abandoned and he is feeding and watering her during the night when she is brought into a stall. He (9 comments)
Here is a rescue story that occurred on the western part of Pennsylvania. Since I am involved with the Lehigh Valley Animal Response Team (LVCART), I thought I would pass this on so everyone can see what is involved in rescuing an animal. In this case, it was a horse. Remember, this is a true story and the following is exactly how it was written by the author.
Please help this story be known. It was amazing!!!
