HAPPY SPRING, Everyone!!  It Has Finally Arrived!! 
Spring is such a beautiful time of year.  After the winter snow has turned black and dreary, and many times of shoveling and driving through the snow, many of us welcome the first day of spring.  Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the fresh blanket of snow.  It makes everything look so fresh and clean.
This winter most of the country has gone through many cold, freezing days and, at least in the northeast, many days shoveling.  We are now ready to welcome the color and warmth of spring along with new life.

spring: Great Way to Welcome and Celebrate Spring - 03/18/10 01:08 AM
 
Hawk Mountain Sanctuary will be holding a Spring Equinox Celebration on Saturday, March 20th, 2010, from 11AM until 3PM at the visitor center.
 
The event is for all family members, young and old. 
 
It will begin with a live owl program.  At noon, naturalist, Dave Hughes will guide a Signs of Spring Scramble, a hike through Hawk Mountain forest.  Advance sign up for this is suggested.  Join in the annual chipmunk count by marking trail sightings on a map and reporting them at the visitor's center.  The trail fees apply for adults and seniors, but children ages 12 and … (6 comments)

It's March 17th, which means it is St. Patrick's Day.  It is a day that everyone turns Irish and we see green everywhere.
 

 
Not only do we see people wearing green and green beer, but usually, this time of year you also begin to see the green grass starting to come up, the buds of trees starting to show some green and the early flower bulbs showing their heads through the ground.
