Today was a first...I have had some very interesting & different things occur while showing homes and prospecting, but today had a little twist.
Remote location is an understatement! My GPS said to keep going and in 3-4 miles I should arrive at my destination. I kept going. The pavement stopped and so did many of the houses. The terrain got rougher and the woods got thicker. I'm somewhat of a country girl, but I'm from NY where we rarely if ever see any snakes.

Traveling around this great country of ours has always been one of my favorite things to do. Not the actual traveling but the sites and experiences along the way.
Growing up in an Italian family (mom's side) I was exposed to Italian foods and ways of life, huggy kissy folks and hot tempers, Lasagna, spaghetti & meatballs and some great pastries, canoli's, pignoli cookies being my favorite.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday we had one of my favorite events here in Ocala at the Florida Horse Park called The Mane Event. Horses & their riders undergo several trials in competition. Yesterday I had the privilege of judging various fences and while I was at it I snapped off some videos.

It was an electrifying day in Ocala! Sarah & Todd Palin made us feel like family. We just loved having them here!
At one point I was about 15 feet from them. The passion they exude is heartwarming! They have such a great heart for the American people and a strong desire to keep America FREE!

We've all heard those stories about the service station that charges 10 times more than the guy back home, but we're over the proverbial "barrel" when we're in unfamiliar territory.

Do you really know? Do you really know what is going on in the world, in political arenas? In other people's minds? in other areas?
By the reports on the media and things I've heard from people out of state, you would think the state of Florida is under water and all the homes are destroyed. NOT HARDLY!!! In fact here in Ocala by all appearances we didn't even know there was 1 or 2 or more hurricanes.

This is a picture of a lovely green pasture.
I took the video from my window as I was driving by this gorgeous horse farm know as Winding Oaks Farm.
It is located on the south side of Hwy 200 just west of I-75 here in Ocala Florida.
Lots of thoroughbred horses, many have made it to the Kentucky Derby and others have made money in untold numbers of races.
I really wanted to give you a birds eye view of this lush farm... but instead we've got tree tops, roof tops and puffy clouds.
Lessons Learned

Margie is our receptionist, a wonderful lady! Margie is only a few years from retirement, she's had a happy and somewhat long life with plenty yet to live, but there's one thing she has never forgotten... The day, at the age of 11 while she was sitting with her other 3 sisters watching TV, her baby sister walked away without being noticed and slipped out into the pool area.

At this point it really is a coin toss! Having lived in New York most of my life I have experienced the pain of winter heating prices and high taxes.
Now I lived on Long Island in East Northport, Greenlawn & Shirley, in either cape style homes or ranches. The heating was cheaper for a ranch but the taxes were cheaper for a cape.
The competition for highest ticket is really neck & neck. When we left Shirley for Ocala Florida 4 years ago our taxes were $5500 (AND THAT IS VERY LOW) and our heating was around $1200-$1400 per year.
