improvement: Would You Share Your Secrets? - 12/15/13 06:08 AM
Sharing "secrets" in this business is a touchy subject.  Whatever someone does to provide good service, get leads, etc is considered "top secret" and seldom gets shared with fellow agents.  In my brokerage, I've got agents who are more than willing to share their methods with others, as long as they're not in competing markets.  Fortunately, we're not overhiring so there is less competition and more sharing.  My question is, would you share your secrets with others?  If so, how?

improvement: Why is downtown Los Altos not improving and becoming a destination? - 09/12/11 03:06 AM
There's a war going on in downtown Los altos and, given time, the bad side is going to lose.  Times are tough for businesses there.  With all the construction going on to improve the area, lack of parking and difficult getting around have cut many businesses revenue 30-70% (I'm hearing this from business owners).  There's another factor keeping the downtown business district from ever, and I mean EVER, becoming a destination.

If you read my articles I'm not a big fan of the Case-Shiller Index.  It has a lot of flaws, including the fact that it leaves out so much data on major metro areas and paints a very incomplete picture.  … (0 comments)

improvement: Foreclosures and default notices see a huge drop in October - 11/17/10 04:01 AM
In Santa Clara County, foreclosures were down 29% from September 2010 and 36% from October 2009.  That's a drop in new foreclosures and can't be entirely attributed to the foreclosure stops from BofA, etc.  Default notices were down 11.1% from September.  These numbers show a massive shift from the down market we've seen in the past toward a growth in prices and lower inventory we see now.
Another interesting statistic tied to these changes is that is it taking 45% longer to process a foreclosure than it did a year ago.  Again, this is GREAT NEWS!  Why is this great … (3 comments)
